More Lakeside Love

6 Comments/ 468/ 1

I can not count the number of posts I have shared on It’s Just Life that feature Lakeside, Ohio. It is my favorite little Ohio town and one that has a lot of meaning for our family. Growing up we stayed one week in June every year with our family in a rented cottage for East Ohio Annual Conference for the United Methodist Church. Sadly, last year was to be the last year that Annual Conference was to be held at Lakeside, and then Covid prevented even that last hurrah. To say that I am mourning the loss is not an exaggeration. While the powers that be think that holding Annual Conference in a convention center is the best choice in our ever evolving world, many of us who grew up with the tradition of Lakeside continue to struggle with the decision. I am not opposed to change but sometimes change is very difficult.

Maybe that is why I suggested our sister trip be to Lakeside. I want to have as many opportunities as I can to visit and this gave me just that chance. While the weather was less than great with rain every day we were there, we managed some non rainy time to walk along the lake several times.

Walking along the lake is always relaxing and there is so much care taken in landscaping by residents to maintain Ohio’s Most Beautiful Mile.

The one thing I was so excited to see was the official Lakeside Daisy. We usually don’t get to see it since our trips have traditionally been later in June and it blooms earlier. I was thrilled to be able to see a few actual blooms.

The dock was closed due to the storm over Memorial Day weekend which threw some boulders up in the swimming area and damaged the dock in a few places but we still had to stand and look out over it because that’s what we do when we are at Lakeside. Even without walking the dock it was a great trip to a special spot.

Thanks for joining me on my trip to Lakeside, Ohio. If you have been here I would love to hear your thoughts. Leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause for Jubilee Partners.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
