Need Some Fun Reading? Check Out These Blogs!

18 Comments/ 565/ 1

Reading blogs is something fun, isn’ t it?  If you are reading this you must agree.  I have so many that I try to read regularly and somehow I keep adding more to my list.  No wonder I find it hard to get things done around the house.  Too much time reading?  Never!

Today I thought I would share a short list of blogs that I read that I think my readers might enjoy also.  Here we go.

*****First up is one that my friend Ann told me about.  Sean Dietrich writes at Sean of the South.  He is an amazing writer.  Simply amazing.   His pieces are often about life and maybe that is why I like him so much.  He writes from the heart about folks and life in the South and the initial post Ann shared with me was one about Dothan, Alabama and ever since I read that post I have been hooked.  He is an author of several books as well and I have one to read on my Kindle right now.

*****Moving back to North Carolina has introduced me to some really fabulous local bloggers.  Julie Wunder writes at Running In A Skirt and has a delightful blog.  As her bio on her blog states Julie  is an

” Emmy award-winning former WLOS meteorologist. Fitness enthusiast. Vegetarian & pescatarian foodie. Wannabe fashionista. Lover of travel, adventure and fun. Blogger at Running in a Skirt… where my goal is to help YOU live a happier, healthier life!”

What do I love about her blog?  Her positive and uplifting attitude that always comes through.  Plus she has some amazing recipes.

*****I think I might have highlighted Cecilia before but her blog never disappoints me.  Her blog —The Kitchen Garden–chronicles her daily life on her farm in Illinois.  Her photography is stunning as she presents new pictures daily of her farm, her animals and her life on her farm.  There is always something new going on and Cecilia has such  a wonderful way of presenting daily life that I am sure you will get pulled into her story and her life.

*****Now I am not a designer at all but after I read several of Kristy Woodson Harvey’s books I got hooked on checking out her design blog.  Design Chic is a blog by Kristy and her mom Beth Woodson.  I love it!  Their goal is to share simple and beautiful designs that inspire . As their blog says:

“We’re a mother and daughter from North Carolina who know that home is one of the very foundations of life, that creating a space surrounded by things you love is one of the best ways to express yourself and find meaning. We believe in candles and flowers, moldings and music and using your fine china every day. We believe that beauty for the sake of beauty adds pleasure and fullness to life and that those small moments surrounded by people you love add up to something really big. It isn’t about the size of your house or the quality of your furniture – and it certainly isn’t about being perfect; it’s about creating a place that feels authentically you and designing a canvas that evolves as you do. Because, at the end of the day, orchestrating your ideal life, finding purpose and becoming your best self all begin at home.”

*****Finally a blog that is geared to women my age is  Midlife Boulevard.  On this blog you will find a variety of posts that deal with things that are part of our life as “midlife women”.  Several of my friends are regular contributors and I actually had a post up there awhile about about Travel Tips.  Book reviews, health tips and recipes can all be found on this great site and I am pretty sure you will find something to interest you even if you are not a midlife woman.

So there you go–a few of my favorite blogs. Pop in to one or more of them and tell them I sent you.  Don’t forget to leave me a comment today and tell me one of your favorite blogs that you follow.  I love to find ones that others are reading.  Each comment this month helps support our Comments for a Cause — The Lakeside Fund.
