No Thank You!

26 Comments/ 540/ 0

I really should have put that title in all caps but I didn’t want to shock anyone. Last week when we were babysitting our darling grandson this was the phrase that we heard often.

The favorite phrase used to be “No dis” meaning of course, not this. Usually it was in response to a YouTube video that he did not want to watch as we scrolled through the list. it often was said emphatically but it was endearing. We talked about getting t-shirts made with “no dis” on them. I mean really, how many times a day do you just want to say “no dis” to something? It’s reedy perfect.

This time when we babysat he turned 2 1/2 and it is a whole new world. He kept us busy and the new phrase of “no thank you” replaced “no dis” . it is the nicer upgraded version. But often, it was said with great emphasis. NO THANK YOU. Quite often it was when we suggested something that he wanted nothing to do with. Or when Chris was tickling him and hadn’t asked before if he wanted to be tickled. . NO THANK YOU. It’s all about boundaries these days and we quickly learned the do’s and don’ts of the World of Theo.

I think we can learn something from our 2 1/2 year old. Instead of snapping at someone rudely we can just say a nice “no thank you” and get our message across. Aren’t there times when it just seems like it will be the most appropriate way of responding?

FaMa and PopPops learned so much during this past visit. As he grows and matures, we find ourselves loving every minute with him just a little bit more and are counting our blessings. How lucky are we to be able to spend time with him?

Have a great Monday. I am still recovering from FaMa Fog.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...
