I really should have put that title in all caps but I didn’t want to shock anyone. Last week when we were babysitting our darling grandson this was the phrase that we heard often.
The favorite phrase used to be “No dis” meaning of course, not this. Usually it was in response to a YouTube video that he did not want to watch as we scrolled through the list. it often was said emphatically but it was endearing. We talked about getting t-shirts made with “no dis” on them. I mean really, how many times a day do you just want to say “no dis” to something? It’s reedy perfect.
This time when we babysat he turned 2 1/2 and it is a whole new world. He kept us busy and the new phrase of “no thank you” replaced “no dis” . it is the nicer upgraded version. But often, it was said with great emphasis. NO THANK YOU. Quite often it was when we suggested something that he wanted nothing to do with. Or when Chris was tickling him and hadn’t asked before if he wanted to be tickled. . NO THANK YOU. It’s all about boundaries these days and we quickly learned the do’s and don’ts of the World of Theo.
I think we can learn something from our 2 1/2 year old. Instead of snapping at someone rudely we can just say a nice “no thank you” and get our message across. Aren’t there times when it just seems like it will be the most appropriate way of responding?
FaMa and PopPops learned so much during this past visit. As he grows and matures, we find ourselves loving every minute with him just a little bit more and are counting our blessings. How lucky are we to be able to spend time with him?
Have a great Monday. I am still recovering from FaMa Fog.

Leave a commentYay for Fa Ma and PopPops! I’m sure you had the best time with yiyr sweet boy and please relax this week!
Beach trip coming up! This is recovery and catch up week!
Cute post – sounds like a polite little man!
He says it so emphatically! But it is far better than a loud NO!
This reminds me of a birthday party for this cute three year old I was the photographer at. Every time this little girl saw me coming with my camera she would hold out her hand and very emphatically say “No, thank you!” It was hilarious. 🤣
That’s perfect!
So true! This is a new parenting world and I appreciate it. I get a lot of “no danks.” Fa Ma might be the best name ever!
No T Berry Brazelton!!! I love no danks! Perfect!
How can he be 2 1/2 already? What fun you must have had! His “no thank you” reminds me when our first grandchild was a toddler and turned down her nose at new foods. Her mama taught her that she had to take a “no thank” you bite to see if she would like it and if she didn’t, it would be okay to say no thank you to that food.
How sweet. He is growing up quickly and knows his own mind. Fun times for all.
I love that Theo at his age is saying No thank you and not “No”. His parents know how to raise a little one up right. I love your grandparent names.
Love these Theo stories and that you can spend all that time with him. What a polite 2.5-year-old!
So happy for you that you can spend time with this little man. I have four grand sons all now fully grown into special young men. I still remember hmany of the things they said when they were younger. My eldest grandson used to call me Nampa and my husband was the other Nampa really cute
