I’ve Got Troubles

14 Comments/ 86/ 1

Troubles. I’ve got a few.

A couple weeks ago my internet was wonky. It’s difficult to be a social media addict and have internet woes so I sent an email to our provider to let them know that service was spotty. I went onto their website to find out where to send a service request and found that the email to direct my request was the following: [email protected]

Now I don’t know about you but that struck me as funny. Troubles. Not help. Not support. Not assistance. Troubles. In the plural form.

I guess we all have troubles. Thankfully my troubles that day were just a momentary thing and not long lasting but some troubles –oh yes–they can be troubling. Our response to those troubles can indicate what kind of person we are.

When I was younger I must admit I let worry come into play a great deal when I had troubles. Several times I can recall being physically sick due to the events happening in my life. As time has gone on I have become much better at handling those events and concerns and maybe there is wisdom that comes with age or something because now I find myself to be almost always optimistic in the thick of troubles. Almost always.

Troubles come in all shapes and sizes and usually at times when it is not convenient. Not sure why that happens but it does and it is up to each person to figure out how to deal and handle difficult situations. Many folks have different ideas how to cope but bottom line in my life is to simply acknowledge the situation and turn it over to God. Somedays I am better at that than others – after all – I am still a work in progress.

Troubles are going to come. It’s a fact of life. How we choose to address those troubles is up to each of us.

Yes, that’s an interesting email address! Guess they figured they’d just cut right to the chase. Glad your internet problems were temporary. It’s so annoying when things just don’t work right!
Sometimes our troubles are difficult to deal with, and you’re right that we all handle things differently. Hopefully age helps us cope better. As one of the popular country songs goes: “Most of it…comes with age”.

I do think age helps with perspective on things! At least I think it does. May your troubles be few today, Dianna!

I love that email. I guess we need to approach our troubles with a positive attitude and a sense of humour. Because there will always be some troubles in life. This is what Dr. Seuss had to say about troubles. “I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!”
    ― Dr. Seuss

I love that Dr. Seuss quote as well. I think he was a very wise man and his books were meant for adults as well as for children, don’t you think? Thanks for sharing!

I chuckled at that email address. Made me think of that song from The Music Man, “Ya Got Trouble.’ Troubles come and go but how we deal with them is the key. Giving them over to God is always best. Wise words you gave us today, my friend.

Oh yes! Music Man song is totally appropriate in this case. Thanks so much for your support and for offering your wise words as well. Always wonderful to hear from you.

Absolutely, Beth Ann (and I find it amusing we both posted today about “troubles”!!) I used to be a worry-wart, too. I get it honest, from BOTH sides of my family tree. And yes, I, too, used to make myself physically ill over my worries. But then I realized that I am not in charge. Never have been; never will be. At least not over everything. And that’s made a huge difference. Turning over what I can’t control to God and letting Him steer the vehicle is immensely freeing!

Debbie—it is interesting we both wrote about “troubles” today! I guess it is what is on our minds, right? Sounds like we are both learning to let go and let God !Thanks for stopping by!

Beth Ann, I was much like you when I was young. Now that I look back I wasted so much time worrying. I do think that age has something to do with it but I think our Lord has the much to do with it. When I learned to turn troubles over to the Lord it was much better. I have to admit from time to time I still try to take care of it myself but not too much. I just ask for the Lord’s will to be done. So glad your computer problems were solved.

Shirley–we have a lot in common, don’t we? Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. It is a process –always. I am continually learning what God’s purpose is and how to follow it. Good thing He is patient.

I’m working on not letting troubles worry me too much. I’m definitely a worrier and it’s no fun but I find as I’m getting older, I try to go more with the flow. Things usually have a way of working out, with or without worry.

Things usually do have a way of working out but it is difficult sometimes to let go and let them work out, isn’t it? I find that things that affect my kids are the hardest to just let go.

Agreed with Jeni… A good perspective! My internet connection is so spotty I rarely social media or anything anymore. Glad yours was a brief interlude as I don’t see an end in sight over here. LOL! Oh well silver lining… I got more time in the kitchen.
