Proper Copper – Artistic Home Decor in Cedar Mountain, NC

18 Comments/ 723/ 1

Proper Copper is now closed at this location.

Proper Copper is a new to me shop just down the road from me in Cedar Mountain, North Carolina.  It has been open for awhile but I just have not made that turn into the parking lot until recently.  Why on earth I haven’t is beyond me but that changed a few weeks ago.

Yes, that is a teapot and it did not come home with me. Imagine that!

Finding and promoting great local businesses is one of my passions on It’s Just Life.  Since I do very few sponsored posts and choose only those that seem to be a good fit for me my readers have come to understand that if I share a store, a book or a product on my blog it is because I really believe in it.  You can trust what I share here and today I want to share a bit about this great little spot at 9587 Greenville Highway right next to the Cedar Mountain Post Office.

Jasper Beacham, Designer and Owner, and his wife Cari (who I missed because she was working her weekday job over at Cedar Mountain House)  have done an amazing job with this little spot off of Route 276.  I exclaimed to him that they had so much stuff packed into such a little shop but it isn’t one of those cluttered places.  Jasper gave Cari all the credit for the great lay out and display of their unique home decor items and I kept finding really great things that I wanted to buy.

Proper Copper showcases a lot of Jasper’s up cycled copper items which are extraordinary.  From tables to plant hangers, oil lamps and other hanging and wall decor his items are truly one of a kind and memorable.  I was really impressed with the creativity and the functionality of his pieces and I imagine there will be one of his copper pieces in our home one of these days.

Other items are artfully displayed with an emphasis on local artists which is always a great thing.  Artists helping artists out is a huge thing in our area and I am thrilled to see another shop that helps promote some of the wonderful craftspeople that we have in our area.

When I visited the place was decked out with a lot of spring decor and I loved all of the rabbits and birds that I found hiding in displays.  I think we are all ready for a little bit of spring so it was refreshing to be able to spot some of that in each nook and cranny.

As the seasons change so does the decor.  I am so excited that this will be the first real season for Proper Copper coming up and I think, no I KNOW, that they are going to do really well off of  this busily traveled road.  We get so many visitors coming to Dupont State Forest and to view all of our lovely waterfalls that this is sure to be a spot to stop.

Jasper Beacham, Designer/Owner graciously welcomes everyone to Proper Copper.

Jasper was so gracious and allowed me to take as many photos as I wanted and his infectious smile and outgoing personality made it easy to see how he loves what he does and is happy to share it with others.  If you are in the area make Proper Copper a stop on your trip.  Daily hours (which I of course forgot to note) are posted on their door and if the sign is out by the road they are open.  Connect with them on their Facebook page here to find out more information.
