Starting 2021 with Kindness

8 Comments/ 82/ 0

I was just telling someone the other day that it does not take much to be kind. It really doesn’t. I was raised to be kind. Of course I am far from perfect and have my days of unkindness and snarkiness but I am trying to really start off the year with an emphasis on kindness. One thing that is encouraging me is a new to me devotional that several of my midwestern friends have used and recommended.

The One Year Daily Acts of Kindness Devotional by Julie Fisk, Kendra Roehl and Kristin Demery has started my year off just perfectly. It has short one page devotionals that come from the heart and have seemed to be exactly what I need to read each day this year.

Each day includes a scripture verse, a short devotional and a do-able act of kindness which I absolutely love. Sometimes the simple devotionals are the best for me and this one has practical applications as well as an inspiring message.

Tell me – what are you doing this year that would encourage me? I would love to hear about it in the comments so please Comment for a Cause for Copeland Oaks Life Care Fund.

Being kind just for kindness sake and not because you expect something in return – I like that. I try to be kind as much as possible not because I expect anything in return, but because it makes me feel good inside.

Happy New Year! I’m simplifying my life and also focusing on health. So much easier to be kind, loving, helpful, encouraging when I am feeling calm, rested, vibrant. That’s the plan!

You can never go wrong with being kind, no matter what. I’ve seen this saying so many times – “it takes courage to be kind” – and it’s so very true. It’s easier to take the road of being rude and inconsiderate especially when one is treated the same way than it is to practice kindness. More truly kind people like you are what our world so desperately needs right now.

I need to get this book. Thank you for introducing us to this devotional.

I also wrote on the topic of kindness today. We need it now more than ever. Love you, my friend!

What a good book. I too like the simple down to earth devotions . I enjoy ones that make me feel our Lord is speaking directly to me.. Kindness is one of the most easiest gifts we can give. I pray our Lord continues as long as I am here to give love and kindness to his people.
