The first of June—how can that be????   This year is flying by and the comments are adding up! If you are new to my blog a few words of explanation!  Each month I select a “cause” to promote.  For each comment that is made on my blog on ANY post during the month I will donate 50 cents to that cause.  At the end of the month I count up the comments and make my donation.  In May I chose The One Fund Boston .   I added the comments up and you guys did great as usual!!!  I received a total of 376 comments so a donation of $188 will be sent to help those who were affected by the Boston Marathon bombing.

Now the big reveal for the cause for June!!!!!  Drum roll …….

My niece, Rachael Youmans and her husband, Nate, are going on an adventure and YOU get to help!  Rachael and Nate live in Sparks, Nevada where Rachael works for the Summit Lake Paiute Tribe as a Fish and Wildlife Biologist.  For the past year Nate has been studying at The University of California, Berkley and worked in Flagstaff for part of the year.  He is a composer and is currently trying to discern his next path.

One of the great things about these two is that they have big hearts and a passion to help others.  In July they will be headed to El Salvador for their second trip with Habitat for Humanity.  Obviously they will need funding for a trip of this magnitude so that is where YOU come in, For each comment during June I will donate 50 cents to help support Rachael and Nate in their mission trip.  I am a huge fan of Habitat for Humanity and am grateful that they are linked up with such a great organization.

Please feel free to comment often–pass this along and share with anyone else who has a heart for this type of mission.  Each comment on any post that I have ever written counts!!!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
