I don’t have a picture because Mr. Take Care of the Situation took care of the situation before I could snap a shot. But trust me when I tell you that the end is here.
We awoke to an annoying beeping sound. Not a smoke alarm. Not a coffee pot malfunctioning. Not a sound system error projecting from the living room. It was a repeating 5 beeps. Then quiet. Then 5 additional beeps.
It was never ending.
Upon further investigation Chris discovered our carbon monoxide detector was flashing the word END and beeping relentlessly. I won’t lie. He opened the doors….
After further review and consulting with Mr. Google we discovered that this was the sign that the device itself had indeed reached end of life. Considering we have lived in the house for 8 years now it was time.
Now we know. And now you know as well. The end is here, at least for that particular device. No worries, another is on its way to us.

Great title for your post today!
Yes— just like a smoke alarm! But louder!
Seems luke these things always die at night.
Always!!
Are you positive it was a carbon monoxide detector? Should I be settling my affairs?
I am positive it was this device but who knows? 😀
Enjoyed your humor!!
😊
Oh my. That would have freaked me out a bit too!
Ha! You had me wondering there for a minute. Glad it was just a faulty detector.
Whew, right?
Glad it did give an alarm before it completely died. Another beep to keep up with. Lol
Our carbon monoxide detector did the same thing a couple years ago. Why did it choose to sound off in the middle of the night though, who knows? It certainly scared us, especially since it was winter and of course, our furnace was running. After opening the windows (and freezing), hubby found the instructions that came with it (shockingly, we still had them after over a decade) and determined it was “dying,” The end is right, better it than us!
Programmed to die!
