The Wordle Craze

26 Comments/ 1000/ 0

Have you jumped on the Wordle bandwagon? I started playing it a couple weeks ago and am officially a fan. I would not say I am addicted but it is one of the things I do every morning while I drink my coffee. And then I text my “score” to my sister. Because I got her started playing it.

The concept is simple. Try to guess the unknown 5 letter word in 6 tries. So far since I have started playing there is only one day that I have not guessed it. It was the first time I played and I really didn’t have the hang of it yet. Now I have a “system” and understand it a bit better so I am happy to usually win in 4 tries.

There are strategies that can be used and there is a lot of discussion on line about what strategy is the best. Some people always start with the same word. Some people switch it up. Some people try to focus on lots of vowels in their first word choice and others concentrate of consonants. However you play it is up to you. That’s the beauty.

This picture explains the “rules”.

Once you complete the puzzle you have the option to share your results. When you share the results you are not sharing the actual words you used because that would be giving answers away. This is what the share looks like.

A new Wordle is available every day. If you want to play click here. If you want more there is a site that has archived Wordles so you can play and play and play. The link to the archive is here.

Recently The New York Times bought Wordle and there is speculation everywhere about if there will eventually be a fee to play the addictive word game. I hope not because it is a fun thing to play and having to pay for it would make it a little less accessible. So let’s hope that it says free and fun.

Do you play? Let me know in the comments and remember to Comment for a Cause for Power Up.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
