And You Thought YOU Were Having a Bad Day!

9 Comments/ 76/ 0

This has been the scene downtown Brevard for at least 2 months.

2 months or more (I forget when it happened) I drove past this sight and today I finally took time to stop and take a couple of pictures.

It makes me think about that poor driver every time I go past. I mean, really, what was he/she thinking? This is the site of an old gas station, I think, and it has not been in use for the entire time we have lived here. So I think the truck driver had a delivery someplace and thought this would be the perfect spot to chill out for a little bit.

But not so much.

It looks like it took the whole thing out. And I suspect it has not been moved because they are waiting for insurance to figure it all out. What a mess.

But it makes me think about all of the times I have underestimated something – with dire results. Pulling into the garage a little too close on one side. Cutting it too close when pulling out in traffic. Grabbing a hot dish out of the oven without potholders. You get the picture. We all do things.

But on the other hand, isn’t it good to take chances sometimes? Not with things that can be harmful or dangerous but in ways that allow us to take a little bit of a risk and maybe stretch ourselves a bit.

I think it is good to challenge ourselves and do things that sometimes stretch us. I have found a couple of things lately that are stretching me and honestly – it’s a good thing.

Lesson learned today? Make sure you have plenty of overhead when parking your beer truck and don’t take a risk with something like that but maybe, just maybe, take a risk to do something a little bit outside of your comfort zone.

Poor guy. I´m sure he was in a lot of trouble. Some risks are good, others not so much. We need the wisdom to know the difference. For the most part, I take calculated risks. But, not always!

Your photo would be good for a short story contest. Once I was running the rummage sale for our church. After the end of the day, I put the unsold stuff under our church portico for Goodwill to pick up. The truck came- and knocked down the brick portico. Underestimated! (And there’s a scene in the new Kristin Bell series on Netflix where she reaches into the hot oven for a casserole without potholders.) ok I’m done- have a great day!

HI JENA. That reminds me. I was helping at a school sale. Hot day so I removed my jacket. Time to go – jacket had been sold and it was the first time I had worn the dared thing

Oh my. Bet the driver regrets that decision. Challenge is good but I think it’s also good to be smart about it.

Safety first….BUT “if you aren’t living on the edge, you’re taking up too much room”! Guess we need to hit a happy medium..

I am definitely not a risk-taker. But I should stretch myself sometimes. We have a railroad overpass bridge in Faribault with center post which has peeled many the tops of many a truck. Signs warn truckers, but apparently they miss the signs or underestimate, much like this beer truck.

I cannot say I am much of a risk taker. You would call some of the risk I take foolish and not too smart. I too grab dishes and pans with potholders, come down the steps with a no light on, i could go on and on.,
