What’s So Good About Today?

Leave a Comment/ 14/ 1

Good Friday is a day that many Christians observe and the name is often puzzling because what is really good about what happened on Good Friday? Jesus was crucified. That does not sound particularly good, does it? Sometimes it is referred to as Holy Friday or Great Friday and those choices seem a little bit better but they all point to the same thing. The day is “good” because of the result of the events rather than the events themselves.

Jesus sacrificed when he willingly took on the sins of humanity and the suffering he experienced is a needed bridge to reconcile God and people. The bad that Jesus took on with his crucifixion and death lead to grace and that is very good.

Most importantly, we can’t celebrate Easter and the resurrection without this day. We have unconditional love as a result of this horrible day. And yes, it is very hard to imagine what Christ went through on our behalf.

Today I will will reflect on the sacrifice and the great love that was shown. It is unimaginable to me on so many levels and yet – I have faith and I believe. Without that, I am nothing.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...
