Whoopee! Hurray!

10 Comments/ 433/ 0

As I sort through the totes of family pictures and papers from my parents in search of perfect pictures to use for my mom’s upcoming Celebration of Life I am blessed to happen upon a lot of great items. My dad was a saver of interesting and important papers and with each paper or document uncovered I discover a little bit more about him and my mom.

My mom has scrapbooks and things of.interest but my dad saved letters and little pieces of things that were of importance to him. One was this little page out of what I think was his journal . While his handwriting is hard to read this is what I have been able to decipher.

Whoopee! Hurray! @!!!*! Whee! What happened? I don’t know — but Peggy is wearing my ring and I feel wonderful—probably as wonderful as she does. Came about after a good prayer meeting. Was raining so I volunteered to take her home. Sat in the car talking for it was raining hard. Was in a bad mood. Dashed to house. Talked and I happened to be explaining putting on of rings at a wedding. Demonstrating with my own ring. I showed the wrong way and the right way and then left it on her. We looked at each other –and we knew what we meant. Then questioning, answer “going steady”. Now a basis for rumors. Stayed too late. I don’t know whether it’s love, but I’m awfully happy —and about body and heart —Boom! I just exploded.

Walter Paul Brown

My mom’s middle name was Margaret and my Daddy called her Peggy at times. Is this not just about the sweetest thing you have ever read? I absolutely love that I have all of these wonderful things to look at and cherish. They may not mean anything to anyone else but they certainly speak to me.

Thanks for indulging me as I share some of these special things. I do this so I don’t forget the love that my parents had for one another. I am so blessed.

Hope today brings you a wonderful discovery that makes you smile. Don’t forget that I appreciate you reading and love you.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
