Alligators live in fresh water marshes and the like and crocs tend to live in salt water. Their snouts are a lot different too.Snout shape: Alligators have wider, U-shaped snouts, while crocodile front ends are more pointed and V-shaped.
Toothy grin: When their snouts are shut, crocodiles look like they’re flashing a toothy grin, as the fourth tooth on each side of the lower jaw sticks up over the upper lip. For alligators, the upper jaw is wider than the lower one, so when they close their mouths, all their teeth are hidden.
Cuddly? Cute? Snuggling? People!! They are fast, dog eating, miserable creatures with smug smiles to boot. Any moment he or she will snap his partners limb off and and saunter away. Ok. That is harsh. They are god creatures after all…. It’s a wonderful picture of the miserable reptilian beasts.
Yikes, you got close enough to take this amazing shot?!? You’re one brave woman, Beth Ann. I keep thinking about my Sheltie and knowing how these critters LOVE small animals….
I can just hear them now saying “Come join us Beth Ann”! We have a few of those here too. One wandered out of the river and onto a county road intersection back in summer; was only 9′ long….
I love driving along Alligator Alley and checking for gators sunning themselves on the banks of the canals in the Everglades. It’s pretty awesome to see.

They were snuggle buddies! I just thought they were awfully cute…for gators. 🙂
Ah…so sweet…
They were cold and snuggling! And perfectly posed.
Just waiting for you to come along and snap their pic, I’m sure. How do you tell the difference b/n alligators and crocodiles?

They were at an aquarium! 🙂 When we were in Australia everyone had dogs and we heard told that the dogs were croc bait a lot of times. 🙁

I am sure they are very gentle with one another….. right?
I am sure they are very gentle. Actually I am not sure at all but they just looked so snuggled up together—-how could they be vicious???
Ooooh, scary! Where did you see these?
An aquarium in North Carolina. Aren’t they cute? 🙂
Not my idea of cute!
Oh come on!!!

They are pretty amazing creatures, aren’t they? As long as I can keep a safe distance from them I am happy! 🙂
I love these guys! They are fascinating.
They are indeed. 🙂
I almost missed this interesting picture as I had a pretty full day yesterday. Good picture.
Thanks!!! What was keeping you busy? I thought you were supposed to be staying in during this icky weather!
Interesting. They just don’t seem the warm, fuzzy type, do they?
They certainly aren’t cuddly. 🙂
