Oh, my, this is a bit scary. But how PERFECT for Halloween. Wow! Surely she doesn’t think them attractive–or maybe she does. And don’t you wonder how she functions?
She was a really nice woman! We talked a good part of the flight and she was quite interesting. Her choice of reading material was also interesting to me—animae cartoons. When she used her phone she used her knuckles on the touch screen. 🙂
I snuck it while she was sleeping. And I could have asked her about them as we chatted a lot but I was still a little chicken to. 🙂 They were crazy long….
I don’t understand why people do that. It seems so unhygienic. I used to see a lady at our local grocery store that had nails so long they curled, only on one hand though. The other was a bit shorter. They were always painted blood-red. How she got anything done was beyond me.
I don’t get it either!! These weren’t painted –I think they might have looked better if they had been. They reminded me of something you would see in a National Geographic magazine !
Those are the scariest looking things! I have seen office workers with long freakish nails like those and how they typed on a keyboard of any kind I will never know! I think they are ugly! I would be so afraid of catching one of them on something and tearing off the whole nail bed!!! Yikes!
I don’t know how you can possibly function with nails this long. I just can’t imagine. She used her knuckles on her phone if that tells you anything. 🙂
This amazes me because..I could never do it. Seriously — mine can only get so long before all the Stuff and Things I do in life cause a breakage. I often wonder if people who can achieve this do nothing, or just have some freak hard as steel nail gene the rest of us lack?
truly amazing.
I am the same as you. My nails are never long at all. I can’t get them past a certain point before I break one, chip it, snag it or something. I am a little repulsed by those that are long like this. How can anyone seriously think this is a good look?
I thought it was a horror scene until I read some of the comments. I use to have very long nails. Always painted. I was told they looked great but they were impossible to do anything with–dial a phone with your knuckle but try getting cream out a jar or doing something with your hair, opening a latch on a door. Nails that long can not be used as a tool because when they break, it really hurts. I outgrew the stage pretty quick.
Perhaps it was a cultural thing. Some cultures consider long nails attractive and a sign of prestige. They do look a bit macabre. Perfect picture for Halloween.
These nails would be prized in China because nails this long signify you are very rich – you are so rich you don’t need to do anything for yourself (including wiping your bum I guess). To me they’re just so icky!

Yes . You can barely see her fingers in this pic. At least 4 inches. She had her head down and the green is her sleeve…

This is kind of freaky and rather disabling. I’m not sure why you would do it. Did you sneak the photo or ask for it?

This is just icky. Why? Oh, yes, that is the question of the day.
I should have asked her that question but I was afraid she might use them on me. 🙂
LOL. But she was such a nice person, right?
She really was, actually. You know me— trying to find the positive!

Those are disgusting!!! I don’t know how anyone can function with nails that long
Can you imagine working in a hospital or a restaurant? She didn’t—she runs a medical transport company but still….
I’ve actually seen longer… Gross none the less. Why not the toenails and open toed shoes..Yuck at just the thought. What is up with people these days?
I just can’t figure out what is up with folks either!!!
Eeeek! It’s PERFECT!
Halloweenish enough for you! 🙂
When I looked at the picture I thought it was some kind of pipes hanging down until I read what it really was. I like longer nails but not those!

Kind of reminds me of how I would try to cut my babies’ fingernails while they were sleeping. Not!
🙂
Good thing it’s wordless Wednesday–I’m speechless.
Haha!!! It was a bit unnerving.

Really? Thanks for the info. She was not Chinese. So weird to think about how to function with them!
Yes, I saw this somewhere at one time. You would see emperors with nails like this!
