I love a good Bubble Tea and recently I have been seeking it out every chance I can. When we were in Texas a few weeks ago I was excited to find a great place to feed my cravings.
1102 Bubble Tea and Coffee in Waco, Texas was a really great place and had we found it earlier in our visit, I am sure we would have made multiple trips. The place was a cozy place with lots of nooks and crannies for relaxing and the ordering was super simple. Customers ordered on an iPad and the employees prepared the drinks in the back and brought them out when they were ready. I don’t remember what Chris and I ordered (there are a lot of options) but they were both yummy.
Bubble tea, also known as boba tea, pearl milk tea, tapioca milk tea or just plain boba, is originally from Taiwan and has popped up in the United States since the 1990’s. The ingredients include tea of some type, tapioca balls or other chewy toppings. The two top varieties include pearl black milk tea and pearl green milk tea. The pearls are the balls. I have decided that I like the types that do not have milk the most but it is all pretty tasty.
There are all kinds of toppings to choose from.
Of course now I am in search of some that I can have at home anytime and found several kinds at World Market that I am working my way through.
The brown sugar milk tea was okay but I probably would not get this one again. It was.a little sweet for me and the pearls were just okay in my opinion.
Now this one that I found at Target I absolutely love. Probably because it is more juice like and the pearls are chewy and fruity. I would love to always have one of these in my fridge because they are so refreshing. They even come with a straw attached to the side of the cup that is large enough to suck up all of the boba. That is an essential part of the experience.
Finally, a Hello Kitty, bubble tea kit that I found at World Market as well. This one is going to take a little bit more work because you actually have to cook the boba but I will take that challenge up and try it one of these days.
Have you had Bubble Tea and what do you think? I admit it is kind of a weird combination but it works and I am hooked. Let me know what you think in the comments and Comment for a Cause for AAUW Brevard Scholarships.
