Google. It’s everywhere, right?
But this post is not about the Google you are thinking about.
It is about googly eyes.
You know what I am talking about. Those little wiggly eyes that are often used in crafts.
I found a great idea from a blogger friend, Kathy, who blogs at The Junk Drawer. I first started following her when she kept a running account of a plastic bag that she lovingly named Windy who was stuck in a tree. If you click here you can view all the archived posts about Windy.
It’s a really fun journey and Windy, RIP, lived a long full life from March 15, 2008 to October 9, 2011. This is the post that shares an interview with Windy which explains how she came to live in the tree.
But I really digress. This was just how I “met” Kathy and came to love her witty take on life. As a follower on Facebook I have become a little bit addicted to one of her new witty endeavors which involves placing googly eyes on things.
I don’t do this to deface anything but instead hope to bring a smile to a face or two. Take a look at my most recent googly eye creations left in various places.

You might have already seen this one—a recent addition to my scratched car that I am picking up today. I am hoping the bandaid and googly eyes are gone wth the dinged in door.

A candle holder with what already looked like a bit of a face.

How about a hairdryer?

This seagull in a picture just was crying for googly eyes.

A fan with ears?

This little silver holder in a restaurant for sweetener and sugar seemed the perfect place since it already seemed to have a nose .
I know it is silly but it makes me laugh and now with my massive ziplock of googly eyes that I keep in my purse I am ever ready to put a smile on a face including mine.

Leave a commentWell, now that’s definitely an innovative take on things! I like it! It’s a fun idea, and I think this world could use a little more laughter and a few more smiles. Most assuredly, this will bring some of that to those who could use it! Great idea! I love the creativity here! 😃😃😃
Thanks, Renee! I hope that no one gets mad about the additions. I just think it is fun to see faces everywhere and to make smiles appear.
Too much free time? The sea gull needed googlybeyes for sure!
Never! Googly eyes for all!
And…I visited The Junk Drawer and I’m getting to know Windy. Her blog is on Kindle blogs. Did you know there was such a thing? Now I’ve got to check that out!
Okay, you do the research on Kindle blogs and get back with me. 🙂 I kind of knew of it but never checked it out.
This cracks me up! 🙂
Mission accomplished!
Awww, thank you for the shout out! I’m just sorry I’m on a blogging hiatus and don’t know when/if I’ll be writing regularly again. I’m much more active on Facebook.
I think my favorite of these is the candle holder. Oh, wait. No. The seagull. No! Wait! The fan! I can’t decide, they’re all funny and adorable. I bought a bag of 600 googly eyes and carry them in my tote, my car, and stick some in my pocket when I’m going somewhere new.
I have to say I’m a wee bit nervous about defacing (or, rather, facing!) something in a public area for fear I will be videotaped and wind up on the news or something. That’s all I need right?
Go forth and eyebomb!!!
Kathy, I think what you are doing is all in good fun and how can anyone get mad about it? I love the idea obviously and think you are brilliant. My friend Katybeth has also been eye bombing for a long time so you are in good company. I think we all need to smile a little bit more and googly eyes are the key. Thanks for the inspiration.
How amusing & whimsical! Keep it up!
Thanks, Josh! Anything to brighten the day!
what fun
I hope so! They make me smile!
I’m sure they bring lots of smiles!
I hope so! That is the goal! Thanks for stopping by, Joyce!
I love the ideal of decorating with google eyes. A cute and fun ideal. Good job, Beth Ann!!
Thanks, Shirley. It is just one of those things that makes me and hopefully someone else smile!
Did I learn this from you? Kathy? Mmmm. I have been doing this forever but have no idea how or when I became a googler. I also collect Happy Meal toys and leave them in silly places at other people’s houses. The best is to grab some blue food coloring and turn someone’s milk blue—Cole did this to his grandfather after I did it to him and his dad and it is for sure a family favorite. Silly, harmless fun that brightens the day and leaves minds curious and inquiring! You get extra points if you can google someones back without being caught. We had a balloon named Alf stuck in a tree–long before I ever thought to blog—I love the idea of a plastic bag named Windy.
You did not learn it from me at all and I suspect you came up with it all on your own. I love your whimsical take on things and yes—it is silly and harmless tuff that makes the day a little brighter. I think you and Kathy have similar ideas about humor. The balloon sounds funny as well . And thank you from the bottom of my heart for the beautiful card. I love it and will cherish it.
Lol. Too funny. I’d get a kick out of seeing googly eyes on different things making them into a “face”. 🙂
It’s just fun to do and I think we all need a little bit more fun in our lives, don’t you?
What a fun idea!
Thanks, Dianna. 🙂
I like the eyes on the hair dryer.
This post is hilarious. The google eyes are funny-and i am still laughing about windy.
Windy was a great story to follow. I loved all of Kathy’s posts and the googly eyes are making me smile when I see a place they will work. thanks for stopping by.
