A Reason for Jubilee – Comments for a Cause

18 Comments/ 648/ 1

What. a great year it has been already as we move forward into the summer months of 2021. How can we really be in June already? I am not sure but I am happy that this month will bring a lot of fun activities including spending time with Baby Theo. You know I can not wait for that.

But since it is June 1st it is the time that I need to focus on our Comments for a Cause that I do monthly on It’s Just Life. Chris and I have been so blessed and are happy to be able to continue to support some wonderful charities as a result of your reading and commenting on my blog posts. Even though the donations may not be huge I am happy to be able to share some of the causes that are important to us.

This past month I was so very happy to have our recipient be Hospice of The Valley – an organization that helped care for my mother during the last week of her life last year. This is such a wonderful organization and even though her time receiving their services was short it was significant not only to her but to the rest of the family. Hospice steps in and offers care above and beyond what is already offered and is such a comfort to both the recipient and the family.

Thanks to your comments and dedication to keeping this going Chris and I will be making a donation of $150 to Hospice of the Valley in memory of my sweet mom. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind comments.

My goal this year is to continue to highlight some of the charities and causes that meant a lot to my mom. During June the Comments for a Cause recipient will be Jubilee Partners. This is a Christian service community in rural Georgia, founded in 1979.  Their primary work is to offer hospitality to immigrants who have experienced violence or persecution. I can not think of a better place to highlight this month and I was so happy to discover a little bit more about this organization that my parents supported over the years.

One of the cornerstones of Jubilee Partners is hospitality. Their website shares this as the goal of that area.

Jubilee offers refugees a place for recovery and healing as well as practical supports such as language classes, legal resources and medical care. Our community, in turn, is profoundly enriched as we walk alongside these families.

Volunteer programs exist as well and afford the volunteers the following opportunities.

Our resident volunteer program offers an opportunity to build cross-cultural friendships and work for justice while exploring Christian discipleship through a life of community and service.

I am thrilled to discover more about this organization and how they operate and encourage you to go to their website here to explore more for yourself. Knowing that my mother supported this place for years makes me happy. It truly is what we are taught to do — to provide hospitality to all who cross our paths.

If you are new here to It’s Just Life the Comments for a Cause is a very simple way for each of you to make a difference. Each comment made on any blog post during the month means a 50 cent donation (cap of $500) by Chris and myself to the charity featured. Simple. Read a blog post. Leave a comment. Boom- you have basically raised 50 cents for that cause. Thank you to each and every one of you who read and comment. You are THE best.
