Another Blast from the Past

20 Comments/ 452/ 0

My siblings and I keep a group text chain going and although we don’t text each other daily (my sister and I do) we do use it to touch base with one another very frequently. When my mom was alive our conversations almost always revolved around her and her care. These days the texts are about travel, fishing pictures, upcoming sibling trip and things that make us think of one another. My oldest brother texted this picture earlier this week.

My brother and sister in law like to go to thrift stores and he quite often texts pictures of something that is from our childhood. This cookbook prompted more texts and pictures.

My sister immediately texted these.

Not to be outdone, I quickly sent these two pictures.

Apparently it was the traditional ninth birthday present from my parents but neither of my brothers got it. Guess it was just for the girls. Funny story- in high school when my older siblings were students there was a test that could be taken and the highest score on this particular test received the Betty Crocker award. My sister won it and my oldest brother did as well and he did it without even having this as his ninth birthday gift. Smile.

I love memories like this. Sharing things with my siblings makes me happy and I am so grateful for texts like this that bring a smile to our of our faces with a memory from years gone by. Have you been reminded of something from your past this week? I would love to hear all about it so leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause for National Parks and Recreation Association.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

All the Light We Cannot See

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
