Another Walk Through the Gardens – Dothan Area Botanical Gardens

13 Comments/ 95/ 1

I was able to spend a few days back in Dothan, Alabama recently when Chris was working.  The really wonderful part of life right now is the ability to go with him when I can.  We thought we would end up living in Dothan and I still love to go visit but quite honestly am glad that we did not decide to relocate there.  It is wicked hot at times and with this season of life that I am embracing I don’t need anymore heat in my life.dabg7

dabg9I do love to go visit and stop at some of my favorite spots when Chris is slaving away.  Of course one place I always try to visit is the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens.  Every time I visit there is something else to discover.  Plants and flowers look different in different times of the year and it is fun to see what is new since my last visit.dabg12

I can never get too many pictures of butterflies.  The gardens have a really wonderful butterfly garden but the day I visited they were everywhere.  I don’t think they pay attention to signage.dabg5

dabg23The most serene spot in the garden has to be the Asian garden and I always find myself sitting there soaking up the sunshine while listening to the sounds of the bees and birds.  I do absolutely love this space.dabg17

dabg18The herb garden is still producing like crazy.  I wish I could have basil that looked like this, don’t you?dabg3The carrot garden looked a tad bit lonely.  I suspect they had already been harvested but some comical gardener left a couple of cute “plants”.dabgI never tire of walking through the gardens here. Dedicated gardeners manage to keep the paths clear and the flowers and others plants lovely.  The Little Free Library was well stocked and our lock was still on the gate.dabg8I think everyone should take the time to find lovely spots like this when they travel.  There are no shortage of botanical gardens to explore and no matter what season you visit there is always a display of beauty.

I leave you with a couple of my favorite pictures from my early morning visit. dabg22

Somehow you have to remind me about this place next time I’m in Alabama. We have a house on Lake Martin. I don’t think Dothan is that far away…right?

Looks like it is about 2 hours and 45 minutes if I put the right info in! That would be doable for sure and it is such a lovely place!

What a beautiful and serene setting. Everyone needs a place they can go to and restore their soul! Butterflies being there is a great bonus. 🙂
