Be Still

8 Comments/ 68/ 1

“Time passes so fast. Make time to be still.”
― Lailah Gifty Akita

This is the time of year that I have to remind myself to stop and be still. It’s all that hustle and bustle that comes with this busy season that can get us all stressed out. It is easy to feel like we are on overload.

So today and every day throughout December I am trying to spend time just being still. I am intentionally taking time to sit and enjoy a cup of tea, read a chapter in a book and just enjoy looking at the sunrise.

I can enjoy everyone else’s perfectly decorated trees (thank you Facebook friends). I can enjoy the music of the season by singing in the Chorale and by telling Alexa to play Christmas music. I can bake what I have time to bake and I can enjoy being able to share those baked goodies with others.

But my goal this year is to truly be still. To enjoy the beauty of the season and to really immerse myself in enjoying and not being caught up in all of the busyness of it.

Tell me – do you have a goal for this holiday season? Is it like mine to just take time to be still and enjoy? I would love to hear all about it in the comments. Remember each comment this month goes to support our Comments for a Cause – The Haven.

When we moved to Spain, I slowed down Christmas a lot and I can tell you I don´t miss the hustle and bustle and the stress that accompanies it. Taking time to be still is such a great idea and good for your soul. Sending Christmas hugs your way. xo

Definitely trying to slow down and enjoy the season and not get bogged down in all the hustle.

Thank you for this very timely reminder. I feel like a whirling dervish right now and taking time to just be still is EXACTLY what I need!

“Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10. A friend reminded me of that scripture many times this year. And then it started just popping up. In a hymn at church. In a devotional. Even on a print in the public restroom at my mom’s care center. Really. And now here. Coincidence? Nope. God wants me to get that message.

Such good advise. I too love Psalm 46:10. We need to live that everyday. Chuck and I have cut way back on Christmas for the past few years. Will enjoy the real reason for the season.

I agree that this is very good advice. I’ve already had to retract one event that I was supposed to go to this week. There’s a big difference in being busy and being productive. I’m opting for productive!
