In a fit of cleaning things up on my phone I somehow deleted my ongoing list of books read in 2015. I was sad but you know what? I have had a lot of bigger disappointments in my life and this is a very minor one. So I don’t have a complete list. So what? I am getting over it.
But I do have a partial list on Goodreads and I will share that with you today. My goal this year was 100 books and I fell woefully short on that goal although I did read more than this list indicates. I just was not always good at writing them down this year. I think the whole moving from Iowa and moving out of another house in Alabama took a toll on my reading time this year. In 2016 I hope to get back to reading as much as I did in 2014.
Here are some of the books I managed to read in 2015. I would love to hear if we have any in common and if so which ones and what you thought of them. If you have suggestions of what I need to add to my growing to read list just let me know in the comments! Remember all the comments count towards our Comments for a Cause!

Leave a commentHi Beth Ann. On this list, we share only 2. I read The Girl on the Train and tried to read All the Light We Cannot See 3 times. Liked Girl, but for some reason could not get into All the Light – and I tried. Oh well!
A couple of books that I read this year that I enjoyed tremendously were “The Lottery” (by Patricia Woods – a very uplifting book!) and “The Invention of Wings” (written by Sue Monk Kidd – author of The Secret Life of Bees – one of my favorite books).
You’ve given me many more to add to my list! Thanks!
I need to check out the ones that you have shared. I don’t have either one of them on any list so that is why I do this every so often. It helps me find some great new books to read. Thanks!
The only books we have in common are All the Light We Cannot See and Go Set A Watchman. All the Light We Cannot See was probably the best book I read in 2015. I just finished Invisible Bridge which, although the year is new, may be the best I read this year. It’s another WW2 tale but this one is set first in Paris then in Hungary. L o o o n g book but so satisfying. I love book lists so thanks for including those! Happy reading in 2016, Beth Ann.
Love to hear what you are reading. I am not the history buff that you are so the long book may not work for me if it is a lot of history but I may give it a go! Thanks for stopping by!
You did very well. I´m impressed. I´m afraid this move of ours has really cut into my reading this past year. I read more while I worked full time! My favourite book on your list is Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome. I read it in grade 8, recommended by a favourite teacher, an Englishman named Mr. Samson.I would read in bed after mom and dad had gone to sleep. It was so funny I couldn´t help laugh out loud as I read it. Dad came running into my room to see if I was OK! I have read it a few times since and it still has me laughing out loud. I sent a copy to my brother when he was suffering from depression. It is such a good book.Happy reading in 2016. XO
I think I got the recommendation for Three Men from you so thank you! I agree. Moving puts a crimp in the reading but this year I am determined!
Two books we have in common: “Three Men in a Boat” and “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.” Three good books I read (for the first time) last year: “Take the Risk” by Ben Carson (written before he went into politics), “Barking at Prozac” (I forget the human author’s name–it’s attributed to Buck the dog–short, funny, and very good), and “Walking” by Henry David Thoreau.
Oh great suggestions! I think the dog one sounds right up my alley! Thanks for sharing! I love to get good suggestions from all of you! Thank you!
A lot of interesting and intriguing titles! I haven’t been reading, I have been too busy with my businesses and learning how to promote on the Internet. But, when I get back to reading this list is tempting!
Thanks for stopping by! I know the busyness thing cuts into reading time, doggone it!
If you love to read you will never be bored! Thanks for sharing that list. I hope to follow-up on it, soon.
We have more than a few reads in common this year, and you’ve also read one or two I’ve read some time ago. Two of my favorite books this year were The Good Girl, for sure – and Come Away With Me, by Karma Brown. SO SO good.
I need to check out Come Away With Me. Thanks!!! And thanks for stopping by!
Wow – I’m impressed! Sadly, reading isn’t something I’ve done much of recently. I did order the book “Unwanted Love” that you recently reviewed. But with Christmas, and another writing project, I haven’t had a chance to start reading it. I know from the excerpt that, once I start, I won’t stop until the end!
I did a post on “Girl on a Train” – thought that was good. I started “Go Set a Watchman” but couldn’t get through it. My rule – if I am 1/3 of the way through a book and am still thinking “who cares?” Then I don’t need to finish.
I loved Girl on The Train. And I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings is a great book!! And of course Plan Bea!! I probably 3 times as many books this year, as in previous years; but I still probably didn’t read more than 20 maybe? But that is honestly a realistic number for me since I spend time writing too. I also tend to revisit old favourites, and read poetry too.
20 a a good respectable number -=there is no shame in any number as long as you are able to enjoy doing what you love (writing) as well. Life gets busy and I totally get it but you have some fabulous reads under your belt. Thanks for sharing.
An impressive list, to be sure! Good luck in the new year with achieving your reading goals!
Not as impressive as I wanted it to be but this year will be better! NO moving this year as far as I know. 🙂
I don’t know where you find them time to read all these!
I read a lot when we travel and at night. I might also let some other things slide by so I can read . 🙂
