Chihuly at the Bellagio – A Must See

12 Comments/ 122/ 0

If you are ever in Las Vegas a place you must stop is Bellagio on the Strip.  Take my word for it.

Even if you only venture into the lobby it is worth the trip.

Once you walk into the lobby simply look up.

When you look up you will see the most amazing piece of glass sculpture that you have ever laid eyes on.

This, my friends, is Chihuly.

Artist Dale Chihuly is more than an artist.  He is a man with many facets and his glass installations are simply one part of his life but what an amazing facet it is.  To read more about him click here to go directly to his website to learn more about this amazing  man.

But for now simply enjoy the vivid colors of  Fiori di Como  – Chihuly’s interpretation of Italian flowers in the spring.

These pictures may all look the same to you but this exhibit is absolutely captivating.

Over 2000 flowers are part of this well known installation in the lobby of Bellagio and it is reported to weigh over 40,000 pounds.  The hand blown glass is the focal point of the lobby and rightfully so.  Many selfies are taken in the lobby with this brilliant display as the backdrop.

No trip to Vegas would be complete without stopping in to view this magnificent masterpiece.  I happened upon another glass piece in the casino area that I am sure is a Chihuly as well although I could find no informations about it.

Seeing this in person has me all excited to see what is in store at The Biltmore Estate this summer.   From May 17th to October 7th there will be an exhibit at The Biltmore Estate of his work. This outdoor exhibit will be available for viewing during the day as well as special nightmare viewing where the art work will be illuminated.   To find out more information click here to go directly to the site that details the Chihuly exhibit.

Have you seen any exhibits by Chihuly?  I would love to read all about them so make sure to leave me a comment.  All comments made on any post this month mean a 50 cent donation to Imagination Library – our Comments for a Cause.

I love the ceiling flowers. They look kind of like jelly fish. Have never been to Vegas.

Yes, we’ve seen his work twice – once at the New York Botanical Garden and once at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. But I’ve never seen the above. That piece in the last photo is AMAZING!

Aren’t Chihuly’s glass sculptures amazing and fascinating? We saw an extensive exhibit of his art at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in our nearby city. Nestled among the gorgeous plants and flowers, his pieces were so striking.

It is so impressive. Photos do not do it justice that is for sure and I am thrilled that I got to see it in person.
