FEBRUARY 1ST
COMMENTS FOR A CAUSE
I get a little bit giddy every time the first of the month rolls around here on It’s Just Life and y’all know why. It’s time to do the Comments for a Cause reveal for the month. If you are new to the blog it works this way.
Each month I select a cause to support and highlight it on the first of the month. For every comment made on ANY blog post Chris and I make a 50 cent donation to that cause. It can add up to a nice little donation if I get a lot of comments. It does NOT have to be on the post highlighting the cause. It could even be a post I wrote 5 years ago. The sky is the limit. Actually $500 is the limit and we have only reached that once in the history of Comments for a Cause but who knows? Maybe this month will be a record month.
Our cause for January 2017 was the ASPCA. Their efforts in animal rescue, animal placement and animal protection are well known not only in the US but in other countries as well. Yes, those heart wrenching videos get to me every time. It is my pleasure to announce that Chris and I will be making a donation of $150 to this organization to help their efforts in these areas. I bumped it up a little bit because you guys weren’t so chatty this month. Thanks to all of you who faithfully come and comment on my blog posts. I know that not every one of them is scintillating but I have so many of you that comment simply because of the cause and for that I thank you.
I love that we live in Transylvania County. Not just because of the name but because of the many great organizations that exist to lend a hand. One of these is the Cindy Platt Boys and Girls Club that is just down the road from us.
According to their website their mission is as follows:
The mission of The Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. We are more than an after school program, we are a youth development organization serving school-aged youth ages 5 to 18 years old. The Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club is a positive place for kids and impacts the life of every young person it serves. We provide a safe place to go, a home away from home, where children feel welcomed and where they join together in wholesome recreation and companionship.
There are 5 core programs at the heart of the Boys and Girls Club and they are:
To impact children’s lives in a positive way using the following programming:
Character and Leadership
Education and Career
Health and Life Skills
Sports, Fitness and Recreation
The ArtsI can not argue one bit with their core beliefs as they list on their website:
A Safe Place to Learn and Grow…
Ongoing Relationships with Caring Adult Professionals…
Life Enhancing Programs and Character Development Experiences…
Hope and Opportunity…
I am thrilled to be able to support this great organization and join our community in supporting our children in this way. I always smile when I see the kids walking from the elementary school to their building when I drive by after school. Please help me support them with your comments this month. Each and every comment counts. Please feel free to share this post with your friends by clicking on the “share” buttons at the bottom of the post. Let’s see if we can reach our max donation of $500 this month. Thank you always for your support.
Please feel free to connect with The Cindy Platt Boys and Girls Club via these social media channels.

Leave a commentHappy February! Learning about your cause each month makes me so happy!
As is your practice you have chosen two more worthy “causes” for your generosity. Congratulations to the ASPCA for January and to the Cindy Platt boys and girls club for this month.
Oh, I’m definitely posting twice each day this month!
Glad you were able to donate to help the animals last month. And a good cause this month too!
Always look forward to hearing your new cause!
Thanks, Josh. We are thrilled to highlight them as well.
So pleased to see 150 go to the spca, a cause dear to my heart. And now, the Boys and Girls Club. You sure pick the best causes. I worked for the Boys and Girls Club for 7 years. The work they do is amazing. I will be commenting away!
I had no idea you worked for the Boys and Girls club. That is very cool! They are offering a lot of great things to a lot of kids and I love their mission. Thanks for stopping by!
I’m always happy to comment, knowing that it helps one of your chosen charities. They’re all such great causes.
Thank you, Dianna! I love having you stop by and you are always so faithful to do it. Thank YOU!
[…] It was a whirlwind visit but if anything it inspired me and made me want to make another trip to explore all that Savannah has to offer. Tell me if you have ever visited and if so what was your favorite thing to see or do in Savannah. Maybe I can add that to my next itinerary. Remember that all comments on the blog this month mean a 50 cent donation to The Cindy Platt Boys and Girls Club of Transylvania County. […]
