Comments for a Cause on Rewind

16 Comments/ 102/ 2

July is here and as we are inching closer to the big wedding event in our family in August. My dress arrived, I still need to get shoes so I can get the final alterations and my jewelry is in the process of being made.  Life is so exciting around here but what makes it even more exciting?  Comments for a Cause, of course.

This past month in June I celebrated all things Lakeside.  Lakeside, Ohio has been a part of my life ever since I was born and it holds a special place in my heart as well as the hearts of many others.  Our recipient this month was The Lakeside Fund which helps fund all of the wonderful things that go on in this quaint little Lake Erie town.  Chris and I are thrilled at the response this month and will be making a donation of $235 to The Lakeside Fund.  Thanks to all who have visited the blog and commented so faithfully.  We couldn’t do it without you.

Sometimes reruns are a good thing and this month I decided to revisit one of our Comments for a Cause recipients from 2 years ago.  Highland Youth Garden in Columbus, Ohio is a wonderful place where children in the city can come and learn all about gardening.

Long time family friend Bill Kline has a lot to do with the garden and his enthusiasm and love of both the garden and the children pours out of him.  His knowledge has helped take the garden to the next level and it is thriving.  In the past two years since I highlighted the Highland Youth Garden there have been many changes and developments.  The bottom line is that lives are being touched and changed as a result of a simple garden.

Fun fact from the past couple of months is that a local group spent a day volunteering in the garden and one of their projects was to build and install a Little Free Library.  Now you know that I was behind that project from the beginning, right?

I love how they have also included some little items that folks might need in the garden like lotion, hand sanitizer and sunscreen.  I think their Little Free Library is going to be a big hit.

So this month let’s support the Highland Youth Garden.  For every comment made on any blog post during the month of July Chris and I will make a donation of 50 cents to the garden.  They are changing lives in a real and special way and I am thrilled to be able to support them in a small way.

Please follow the garden on social media by following their Facebook Page here and their website here. You can even make a donation online on their site so it is a great way to support them. Any amount helps.

Below is a video I did with Bill two summers ago.  I guess I should have updated it this year but you get the idea.  He is a great guy with a great heart and this project is one that I totally can get behind.  How about you?

Anything involving books is a winner in my book. I like the idea of a rewind on comments for a cause, as you are doing so much good for so many organizations!
