Don’t you guys need to know what is going on in my life? Well, actually, a lot. Summer is in full swing here in the mountains of North Carolina and combined with our almost daily afternoon thunderstorms, we have been enjoying life.
So today let me share a few things that have been taking up my time.
Podcast
Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist has been a really lovely podcast to follow and event though I am behind in listening to this one and have quite a few stacked up in my downloads, it is always worth listening to them. I love Willie’s easy going interview style and he has some of the most interesting people on. From Shonda Rhimes to Stanley Tucci I am always entertained and learn a bit more about a celebrity.
Audiobook
I just finished listening to The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell on Audible and really enjoyed it. Anything with extraordinary in the title gets my attention here at It’s Just Life. This book is a really great coming of age story and one that is actually free on Kindle Unlimited right now. Do yourself a favor and get a copy of this book. It is worth it.
Television
Chris and I are watching The Bear on Hulu and it is intense! It is about a young chef who returns to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop. But it is intense. There is a lot of yelling and not so great language and I find that I can only watch an episode or two at a time. But I like it and really am getting drawn into the characters.
I just finished Jury Duty on Amazon Prime and LOVED it. Again, some adult themed themes, but the entire drama had me laughing all of the way through and it was a nice escape from life. There is a twist and I did not have it figured out which makes it even better.
Books
I just started Crow Mary by Kathleen Grissom that I bought at Highland Books here in Brevard. Of course it helped that owner Leslie highlighted it in one of her TikTok Booktalk videos but it is going to be good. I can’t wait to learn more about the indigenous woman and her life. Stay tuned.
I just finished The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections by Eva Jurczyk that I got at the AAUW Book Sale. It was a good book and you know how I love a good book about books.
So there you have it – all the exciting things that you need to know about my life and what I am enjoying. Aren’t you glad you stopped by today? Let me know what you have been enjoying and Comment for a Cause for National Parks and Recreation Association.

Leave a commentI feel like a slug. I did just finish Luke Russets book about healing from his famous father’s sudden death. It was so-so. I like Bill Guist, Willie’s dad, who used to contribute to Sunday Morning, and who now is I’ll with I think Parkinsons. I’ll listen to Willie’s podcast.
Isnt it wonderful to be reading a good book or watching a fun show?
Well, since you’re one of the coolest people I know, of course I want to know what you’re doing, watching, reading, etc. Thanks for the tips!! Always appreciated! (Currently, I’m plowing through Bridge of Sighs by Richard Russo. Love him. Absolutely nothing is happening, but I’m enjoying it. Sorta like a Seinfield episode. Lol!)
I have been wanting to check out The Bear but haven’t gotten around to it. It seems like everyone is watching and recommending it – there must be a reason. 😉
I’m currently reading, at the pool, Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. It is very good. This one is quite different for her but so well written.
I loved Demon Copperhead!
Meh. The National Park Service claims some beautiful places but the quality of their stewardship has been debatable.
Thanks for the book recommendations !
Wow, you have been really busy!!
a fun filled summer! I’m a puzzler, so I have been working on Disney movie collectors edition puzzles. Loving them!!!
I have been wanting to watch The Bear season II!
