Unless you live in Arizona (except Navajo Nation) or Hawaii, you gained an hour this past weekend. Now when the kids were young that made a huge difference but as elders now, it didn’t really affect me much. Except Sunday seemed really, really long. I guess I should have made the most of my found hour but alas, I did not. I wasted it. I will never get it back again but I guess I am okay with the way I spent it. After all, my Covid vaccine that I got on Friday always makes me a little lethargic for a couple of days so I just embraced that. Maybe a little too much.
The debate always exists about why we keep Daylight Savings Time and what good it does. Well, I guess it does serve its purpose but I don’t like the whole falling back part. Sun going down way too early, darkness enveloping me before dinner time does not thrill me. Ugh. But it is part of what we do and there is no way around it.

Last week Chris and I took a little trip. We decided we need to designate one day a week to just get out of the house and the constant vigilance to keeping it straightened for that possible showing and do something fun. This time we just drove (not to a Mug House) but to see the fall foliage and enjoy the beautiful weather while it lasted. I packed the usual picnic and we set off and ended up at Lake Glenville. The lake was formed in 1941 by Nantahala Power and Light by damming the west fork of the Tuckasegee River to generate hydroelectric power for World War II. It’s a beautiful spot and we found a great place to enjoy our picnic.

So how did you spend your extra hour? How is the foliage in your area? It seems that after this weekend most of the leaves that are going to fall in our yard have fallen and it is a carpet of crunchiness. I always feel a tad verklempt at this time of year even though it is beautiful because I know the sunny beautiful North Carolina days won’t be as plentiful. But then I remember that spring is going to be fabulous and maybe even in a new location so that is something to look forward to. Have a beautiful Monday, friends.
