First Day Nerves

58 Comments/ 3763/ 0

shareasimage-3Remember that first day of school?

Remember the first time you had to speak in front of the class?

How about your first date?

Or the first day on the very first job?

Today I am feeling some of those butterfly in the stomach emotions.

But not for me.

Mr. Diamond starts a new job today.  After 5 months of being together almost every single day we are now geographically separated. He’s in Texas. I’m in Iowa.  It’s a good thing.  Work is a very good thing.  A new job is really a very good thing.

But I have to be honest—-the separation thing—not such a good thing. We have done it before. We have made it work.  We have done what we needed to do.  And we will this time.

I am grateful for great opportunities.  I am grateful for a husband who has the drive and the integrity to put 150% into a new job.  I am grateful for new places to explore.  I am grateful for everyone who has supported us with prayers and good wishes.

My husband is in one word–amazing.  He has always supported me in all of my endeavors and continues to be my biggest cheerleader–especially when it comes to this blog.  He supports me in all ways.

Now it is my turn to support him.  From afar at times but always.  If you think about it today please send some prayers or good wishes his way—-first days are always nerve wracking even for the most self confident and self assured folks.

I am so proud of him. He is an amazing man. He is the real deal.

From reading your comments above … does this mean you will also move? Pig-farmer travels a lot for work. Sometimes that has its advantages (lol) but for the most part, I wish it weren’t that way. Good luck to you and Mr. Diamond! Keep us posted!

We have a house to sell here in Iowa and once that happens we will make the move permanent. It is going to take a while to sell but when the right buyers come along it will happen. Chris traveled every week the last half of last year bur was home on the weekends. With this latest job we will probably see each other every two weeks or so….gotta make it count, right? Thanks for you sweet words always and encouragement!

Well, as one who was raised in Iowa and eventually made the move to Texas, I’ve nothing but good things to say about it. It’s a terrifically friendly and interesting state — and no income tax!

The main thing to stay connected: text, email, and of course, phone. Make surprises for when you get together, but try to keep things as “normal” as possible. You stay busy, so that helps, too. Hugs.
