You may remember that I like teapots. Just a little bit. My love of teapots started years ago and has kind of grown over the years. When people find out that I collect them they start looking for them for me. Sometimes I get pictures. Sometimes I get texts with pictures. Sometimes I get “pins” on Pinterest and sometimes, yes sometimes, I even get an actual surprise teapot from one of my friends or followers.
They are spilling out all over my house and one of these days I promise I will share pictures of my house and where I have them all crammed displayed but that is for another day and not today.
I recently went back over to Webster City for a morning shopping trip. The city was kind enough to sponsor the North Iowa Bloggers one day last December and I have been itching to go back so I drug Jeni from Jeni Eats along with me and we stopped in at SOS Vintage again. You may recall I found a lovely teapot there on my first visit.
This trip I was not disappointed as I found a few treasures there that ended up in my car coming home. The first is this magnificent Frankoma Aztec Prairie Green Teapot that I am in love with. Just look at the details on this baby. I love that Frankoma pottery is made in the United States (Located in Oklahoma) with locally sourced clay. That makes it truly American made.
The other item I bought was this sweet tea chest. I am not sure where I am going to put it or what I am going to do with it but don’t you love it? Thanks to Denise of SOS Vintage for snapping the picture of Jeni and myself with my sweet purchase.

Leave a commentHere’s a thought for the tea chest. Maybe you could start packing some of the teapots in it for the big move. I’ll hate to see you go but I’m glad I’ll be able to keep reading your blog!
I was just telling Chris that I needed to start getting them organized and maybe pack up the Christmas/winter themed ones on my own in an effort to declutter since we will be relisting the house in March. Maybe you have the right idea there. 🙂 He also told me I had to do an inventory. Oh the pressure! Thanks for stopping by!
I know how excited you must have been to find this tea chest and Frankoma teapot. I am a no-frills girl, thus really like Frankoma. This is a sweet find.
So you like teapots “just a little bit?” That actually made me laugh out loud this AM.
This teapot made me think of you, Audrey, because not only is it a companion to the Frankoma pot you gave me it is also green—your favorite color. That made me smile when I found it. Glad I could give you a giggle this morning. I am fully embracing that I like teapots. 🙂
I’ve always liked Frankoma. My mother collected their white Christmas plates — which eventually went off to a consignment shop. I just couldn’t keep everything! But if I came across this baby, it would come home with me, too. What a lucky find!
I love it. There are a lot in this line with all kinds of different variations from the looks of it but this one is just wonderful. There is a tiny chip on the lid but other than that it is perfect.
What a cool find. I loved how they were prepared with teapots for your arrival. I like the color of this one.
It’s almost as if they knew a teapot lover was coming. 🙂
So I’ve got a question, Beth Ann. A true teapot find will have something stamped on its bottom, right? I’ve got a couple that I won at an auction in Tennessee. They’re interesting-looking and kind of heavy, but nothing is stamped on there. Do you think they’re just ceramics that some random person made? Thx!
Maybe so. I am no expert but most of the ones in my collection that have any value de finely have stamps or markings to authenticate what they are. You can always do a google search with a description and see if anything turns up to match what you have. You might have ones made by random people but if you like them that is all that matters!!!
I like him! I especially like his top!! He’s got culture and a little attitude.,
This was a great find and a fabulous addition to your collection.. I love that it is made local with local clay. And the tea chest is just – wow!!
The tea chest is really amazing. I spied it and I had to have it. 🙂
I love pottery!! It’s always unique and beautiful.
but I love the clear teapot in the header picture!! THAT is what I am looking for. I have blooming teas and the require a clear pot. I think I will have to order one because I never see one anywhere.
