Friday Recap – It’s All About the Travel

19 Comments/ 82/ 2

Wonder what I have been up to?  If you follow me on social media outlets you might already know but here is a round up of what’s been going on in my life.

Travel, travel, travel.

After getting back home from Europe we were home a few nights and then off to Alburqueque where we celebrated the marriage of my nephew Thomas and his new bride Kristin.  It was a fun time with family and even though it was hot we had a great time.

Newlyweds Thomas and Kristin

There will be more posts eventually about our trip to Alburqueque.  It involved a taco party, time with my great niece, a lot of sweating and oh yes— a break in to my brother’s truck which added a bit more excitement to the trip.

A few more nights back at home and then it was off to Ohio to see family.

First up a trip to Ohio to see Chris’s sister and brother.  Carlton lives in a group home now and his Alzheimer’s is accelerating rapidly but this was a good night for him and we loved being able to take him to dinner and spend a few hours with him.

Colleen, Carlton and Chris

Chris needed a pick me up after seeing his brother so he suggested a quick trip (since we were in Ohio and so close) to our favorite Lake Erie town, Lakeside.  We spent a few hours in the area and it was just what the doctor ordered to help get us both kind of re-centered.

Then it was off to Sebring to spend the day with my mom.   She is struggling with a lot of pain in her shoulder due to arthritis and a recent fracture but hopefully a shot next week will help ease that pain a little bit.  It is so difficult to see her struggle with health and cognitive issues and while I know she is in the right place in her assisted living apartment it is difficult to see her struggling to be happy and content with her living situation.

A few more nights at home and we are off to Sandpoint, Idaho for a few days of rest and relaxation before Chris goes on a sales trip to the Pacific Northwest.  I am so happy to be able to come with him for a few days and hopefully catch up on some rest (if I ever get adjusted to yet another time zone) .

A view of Trinity Beach where we ate dinner overlooking the beach

What’s going on in your world?  I promise next week a few more travel posts from Croatia and Paris.  I have so much to share and just have to get the posts and pictures ready to go.  Hope you have a great weekend.  Fill me in on what’s going on with you in the comment section.  I love to hear what you are doing and it all helps our Comments for a Cause.

    Hi Beth Ann
Our wedding is over now too. Special times in our lives aren’t
    they.
We are supposed to be heading to Japan early October for some R and R – so hope all goes to plan – not sure how things will go in that part of world in the near future!

Your wedding looked beautiful and I know it was an amazing time for you as well. Hope your trip works out– that was one of the best things for us post wedding– 5 days in Paris to unwind!

Loved all the family photos in your post. The name of your blog is perfect isn’t it? Marriages, illness, aging, laughing with family, connecting with the husband- it’s just life.

It is the perfect name, isn’t it? Chris named it years ago when we were talking about what my blog was about. I think it is perfect.

For awhile at least. It comes and goes during the fall and winter.

I enjoyed this post for all the family photos. I understand the challenges of watching loved ones decline in health. That quick Lakeside respite sounds much needed.

I shared most of these on Facebook already but I thought some of my other readers might enjoy the pics as well. The trip to Lakeside was perfect. It was the most beautiful day and since it was off season it was a totally relaxing and different vibe there than when we go in June. I was so happy Chris suggested it. He knows what we both need sometimes.

Hoping over to join you on your blog. I love to travel as well, but haven’t done a lot outside the country. Sounds like you are having a chance to visit family, It’s hard to see our parents aging and all the hard things that come with that. I love that last photo… just beautiful!

Love love love your travel posts and all the adventures you share with us.
I understand exactly what you mean with trying to get centered again after seeing family that is struggling with cognitive issues. Seeing Corey’s grandma slip away more and more each day is hard for me, but even worse for the kids…
We are trying to get back into the swing of things here after Hurricane Irma. While we didn’t get the full brunt of the storm, there are signs everywhere that something happened and things aren’t 100% back to normal. I won’t complain because there are so many who have it so much worse and my heart aches for all of them.

I am glad you guys are back home and I am sure that things are a little odd with things still recovering from stupid Irma. I know there are many who lost everything and poor Puerto Rico and the islands that are so devastated. It is almost too much to watch on tv at times.

Oh gosh–I don’t know how you did it! Your trip was all over the place and you really had a lot of events to attend as well. I am thinking when I go back home on Monday the couple hour time difference is really going to hit me hard. Can’t wait to see your posts about your trip!
