A Little R & R Is Good for the Soul

16 Comments/ 99/ 1

R & R.

Rest and relaxation.

I find myself needing more and more of this as I get older and even though I am not actively employed in a traditional job of sorts these days it does not mean that I do not need time to take care of myself.

Our trip to Idaho this past weekend had initially been planned to be part of a work event but when that fell through we kept our tickets and reservations and decided to make it just for us.

I have had so many people comment on how they can’t keep up with me.  Well, me either.  This trip served its purpose of providing some much needed rest and relaxation from life.

Our summer and fall have been overbooked with travel and family and wonderful events.   It has been wonderful.

It has also been exhausting.  I said it. I admitted it

Time alone with Chris to just chill and do absolutely only what we wanted to do was much needed and much appreciated.

Enjoying Idaho, walking small towns, finding fun restaurants to eat at and enjoying mountain and lake views have all helped to relax and rejuvenate both of us.

What do you do to take care of yourself?

You have been on the move a lot this summer. Glad you were able to unwind. What do I do? Well, we’ve been traveling a lot too, but most of the time that’s what relaxes me. And if that doesn’t work I take my dog and my tent and head for the woods.

Hard to keep up with you (both!). I like to enter my “creative nest”/studio and stitch or spend some (major) time at the piano. Both activities seem to level out those hills & valleys that life sends my way.

Glad you got some rest! What do I do? Keeping busy with different projects/events/etc. is what I enjoy but then every once in a awhile, I crash. Like this week!

So happy for you. That down time is so important! And what do I do to take care of me? I travel!

This get-away sounds exactly like what you needed. Serene, unhurried, peaceful and, best of all, time alone with Chris.

What a beautiful spot to go for some much needed R & R. I find I get more rest when I am at home in Spain these days cuddling with my dear dog and relaxing in the pool. I love to travel and see my peeps but we all need down time. Don´t forget to check out some of my family pictures https://darlenefoster.wordpress.com/2017/09/24/home-again-home-again-jiggety-jig/ <3

A little r&r truly is what we all need sometimes. I feel like I could use a vacation already… so much going on and I feel like I’m being pulled in a million directions.

Yes! Yes! Yes! That’s exactly what T and I have said recently and why we made a flash trip to Dubuque! Idaho looks so fun to explore!

The pictures of Idaho are beautiful. For down time I like to go to my bedroom (especially during the day – it feels so decadent), get in bed, and read for a couple of hours.

Everyone needs some R&R but you really deserve it after the whirlwind you’ve been on! Glad you found it refreshing and peaceful.

Wow! What beautiful photography! Hm, well, I guess I like to read to take care of myself.

Reading is a great escape as well. I do a lot of that myself!

Glad you took the time to enjoy our state! Your pictures look like Lake Pend Orielle perhaps? Or maybe Coeur d’Alene? We have lots to share here in Idaho. Glad you enjoyed your rest.

Happy you got some rest and relaxation! Your photos are beautiful. We’ve never been to Idaho. My friend used to be a camp counselor there and I was surprised when she showed me there were mountains.

It really is beautiful and we tried to go see some waterfalls but when the gravel road got skinnier and skinnier and we saw no visible hiking trail to the falls we called that adventure off. It is the land of grizzlies and I did not want THAT much adventure!
