When a friend calls to me from the road
And slows his horse to a meaning walk,
I don’t stand still and look around
On all the hills I haven’t hoed,
And shout from where I am, What is it?
No, not as there is a time to talk.
I thrust my hoe in the mellow ground,
Blade-end up and five feet tall,
And plod: I go up to the stone wall
For a friendly visit.
Robert Frost
Friendship is important to me. I have been so blessed with friends all of my life. From my grade school friend who shares my name to my newish friends here in Connestee Falls I have more good friends than any one person deserves.
I have been thinking about friendship a lot lately. Friendship may look different to different people but to me it means simply being there for each other. Whatever that means.
It may mean just listening.
It may mean dropping off a dinner.
It may mean helping to organize a new kitchen.
It may mean helping clear out closets after the death of a loved one.
It may mean moving heaven and earth to make something happen for your friend that they really, really deserve.
It may mean leaving hidden post it notes with words of encouragement around someone’s house for them to find later.
It may mean just sitting quietly.
Whatever it is I have determined many years ago that it is worth the effort.
Friends drop what they are doing when another friend calls to tell them they need them.
Friends show up.
Friends support.
Friends love.
Friends comfort.
Friends care.
Thank you to each of you who takes the time to stop by and read. Thank you, friend. I love you and appreciate you.

Back at ya, Susi! You make me smile!
I couldn´t have said it better myself. Recently I have been very thankful for my blogging friends who also take time to stop and read/listen. Thank you for being a long time blogging friend! 🥰
Thank you back! You are much better at reading and commenting than I am these days. I used to be MUCH better but it doesn’t mean I don’t still support you even if I don’t always leave a comment.
I know that. I can feel the vibe of you being there. xo
(Your comments for a cause is a big motivator for me)
Thanks, you are the best!
I meant to mention how I love the Robert Frost poem. It reminds me of my dad. He was such a busy, hardworking man, but he always took the time to stop and talk to a friend.
Robert Frost is my favorite poet I think. Simple and to the point.
I look forward to reading your blog and miss it on the weekend!
Sandy– you don’t know how much that means to me. Sometimes I wonder if I should keep this up and then someone says something like this and it makes me know that sometimes it means something to someone out there who reads my silliness . Thanks for the sweet words.
Wonderful poem…and post! Have a good day!
Thanks, Jean! Hope you have a great day as well!

You are so welcome. You have been such a wonderful friend over the years and yes–the blogging community is a great place to meet like minded (and sometimes not so like minded!) folks.
Your friend next door loves you!
