God’s Perfect Timing

26 Comments/ 620/ 0

God’s perfect timing. It’s there. All of the time.

But so often we are so doggone oblivious to it that we just can’t see it.

Stepping back and looking back over my life I can see it so clearly.

The friend that was placed in my life at just the right moment.

The job that was created that was the perfect use of my time and talents.

The moves that enabled our family to live in pretty amazing places.

The job opportunities that allowed my husband to be challenged and grow in his professional life.

The friends that surround us with support and love wherever we have lived.

I have often mused about how my life has been a series of God moments where God knew exactly what I needed when I had absolutely no clue. There have definitely been moments when I floundered but I have found in my later years that those moments are fewer and fewer. I think that with age comes a little bit more knowledge that there is nothing to really worry about.

Yes, life still presents challenges. My mom’s journey through dementia and eventual death in 2020 and the death of Chris’s brother definitely rocked my world a bit in the past couple of years. It has been a time of losses but through it all I have felt God’s timing. We had the time to be able to be with Carlton before his death and were there by his side when that moment came when he slipped from this world. We were free to be there with no pressing obligations. That was God’s perfect timing for us as we would have not wanted to be any other place. What a gift. Sadly, I was not with my own mother when she passed due to the pandemic but we were able to see her days before she entered her eternal home. That is not something I take lightly. It was a God moment.

The verses in Ecclesiastes 3 give me strength:

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2     a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3     a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4     a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5     a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6     a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7     a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8     a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.New International Version

I continue to be a work in progress – leaning each day into the day and discovering God’s amazing plan for my life. Each day is a new day filled with new challenges but acknowledging God’s timing is much better than my own timing allows me to be open to the possibilities each new day brings.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
