Celebrating Thanksliving Every Day of the Year

16 Comments/ 128/ 2

Thanksliving.  Isn’t that a great word?

Our pastor preached a sermon about Thanksliving.   Autocorrect keeps trying to change that word to Thanksgiving but that’s not what I am talking about .

Thanksliving is a way of living every single day as a thankful person.  I try to do that .  I really do.

Some days that is much easier to do than other days.

The days that it comes easily to me are those days when I am surrounded by the bounty that God has bestowed upon me.

The days that it is more difficult are those days that are trying.  Those days when “life” is pressing in on me. Those days when obligations and the weight of the problems of the world seem heaviest.

But then something usually happens.

I realize that I need only trust in God to become a vessel of Thanksliving.  Living my life thankfully and gratefully every single day is definitely my goal in this life.

Life can be challenging.  It simply can be difficult to be thankful on some days but there is ALWAYS something to be thankful for.  Always.

I start with the small things like being grateful for a hot cup of coffee in the morning made just like I like it.  Pretty soon I am able to realize that there is so much more than that cup of coffee.  The sunrise that I can see out my bedroom window when I wake up. The warmth of two warm cat bodies that hop up in bed with me after I get that first cup of coffee.  The warmth of the shower that clears my head.

See what happens?  By beginning each day with a realization and a sense of Thanksliving my day begins to take shape and each action can become a way of showing my gratitude to God for this life that I have.

How about you?  Can you live a life thankfully as well?  Can you share that thankful living with others?

“In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Great reminder! I always tried to teach my kids to look for the blessing in the situation. You do that well! Love you.

You live your life this way as well and I know your children have seen your example and live the same way. There is always always something to be thankful for.

That is a wonderful word, Thanksliving. I try as well to be thankful everyday, especially first thing in the morning as it seems to carry me through the day.

I agree. If I start the day with being thankful it kind of sets the tone for the whole day.

Coincidently, the post I read just before yours was one written in 2011. It talked about a similar topic…how to be thankful every day. https://upwoods.wordpress.com/2011/11/24/what-is-the-opposite-of-thanksgiving/ Maybe it wasn’t a coincidence!

Perfect post for the season. You inspire me to be more positive through life’s difficulties. Thank you for that gift. My dear husband directed me to look out the window to a stunning red sunrise. What a great way to begin my Monday morning.

I start every day with devotions and prayers, which place me in the right mindset of peace and hope and gratitude.

That is the perfect way to start the day. There is always something to be grateful for but sometimes you have to look a little bit harder to find those things. Sunrises are a great way to start the day and as I sit here typing this the brilliant pinks and oranges are streaming through my bedroom window. Perfect.

I try to live a thankful life each and every day. Like you said, some days that is easier then others. But I keep on trying…

My daily devotion today was on the very same thought…”be thankful in all situations”. That sure has rang true to hubby and I this past year, and I for one just thank the Lord for every day he gives me. Some days are harder but I refuse to give up!

I agree–some days it is more difficult but the alternative is to be ungrateful and I just can’t do that! I suspect you can’t either. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your thoughts –I love your words!

Thanks living is exactly what I try to do. My favorite scripture is 1 Thess. 5:16-18: Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ. Great post, Beth Ann. 🙂
