Green Eyed Puppy

13 Comments/ 208/ 0

No, her eyes technically are not green but our grand puppy definitely got her nose out of joint when “that baby” joined the family. Poor Penny. Life has not been the same for this pampered pooch since that little guy arrived.

I couldn’t find her one night and found her curled up on our bed –probably just trying to hide out from a toddler.

We did take her for walks and even to the dog park. What more could she want?

We even showed her some city chickens. I mean, really, I think we showed her a good time.

She really is adorable but it is comical how she competes for attention now with a toddler around. She gets plenty of love and attention, believe me, but sharing is not her strength right now. She is much more tolerant and I think in a year she will appreciate our grandson for more than what he drops off the high chair.

When we took a few walks around Jersey City I snapped a few shots of some fun to me things. Enjoy.

A day care group, all clad in safety vests, stomping in rain puddles and thoroughly enjoying a spring day in the park.

A tribute to a dead kitty which reads: Our dear friend Mocho. Our little cat friend will always be loved.

And if you had any question about how well Penny walks for us….well, she doesn’t. She is very determined and will go her own way or just sit. She definitely has a mind of her own but we love her completely.

This made me laugh, especially that last picture. Our Sunny will do that when she wants to continue on her merry way and sniff every last blade of grass instead of walking and even though she barely weighs 25 lbs you cannot budge her when she digs in like that. 😍

Yep, Penny, I remember 30 some years ago when our dog-baby sweetheart of that time turned into “the dog”. And then a few years later the most perfect babies in the world turned into “the kids”. And we all loved each other! Now, the current dog is a retiree, like us. We are old and happy together. (And I enjoyed your photos!)

I always tell my before children dog parents to keep in mind that their relationship with their pup will change when they start a family. Of course, they never believe me, And then it happens. The pups are all still loved, but some of the spoilings drop away, and annoyance creeps in when the baby’s stuffies start to be maimed. I always told Cole from the age of understanding about Rascal, if she bites, you—you are in so much trouble, and if you put it up, you’ll still have it. Corgis are not known for loving Littles, but they are known for loving their families, and if kids are part of the pack, they suck it up. Cheerios help. It looks like you are wonderful grandparents to your grandkid and grandpup.

Oh Penny. I’m glad you got to spend some quality time with her. Always hard when a new little person joins the family.

Your grandpup is a CORGI??!! I love Corgis. Seriously thought about getting one when Dallas crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but ended up with Monkey. Yours is adogable! I understand what Katybeth said, and she’s so right — I’ve heard this for ages. Eventually, they’ll settle down and probably be the best of buds. Right now, puppy is doing everything possible to convince her pawrents that the “new addition” isn’t necessary. And how I laughed at your last photo — at least I’ve got Monkey walking better. Most of the time, anyway!

A small dog but an alpha dog no less…Serena cat amuses me with her attitude toward kittens. She loves them. All of them. She does know which are her own, but if allowed she’ll mother all kittens almost impartially. But they are NOT allowed to be cuter or attract more attention than Serena. She wants me to know that she’s *my* kitten forever, though as an adult cat she’s much bossier than she was as a kitten.

I’ll put my foot down if it seems necessary. Mostly I think she does an excellent job of running my home.

Penny is so cute but looks like she has a mind of her own. Love that pic!! I know over time she will love your grandson.
