Happy Birthday, Mr. Diamond!

26 Comments/ 510/ 2

Happy Birthday to my Mr. Diamond.

It’s very hard for me to believe that I have known this man for 39 years and have celebrated 38 birthdays with him.

It’s a funny thing sometimes when you are married to your best friend.  You see sides of them that no one else ever sees.

To many my husband is all business.  He has his “work voice” and that was very evident in our early marriage when he was in the Navy.  He definitely had that voice down when the captain called.

What I am privileged to see is the softer side of him.  The side that engages the waiter or waitress in conversation, learns a little bit of their story and then quietly leaves an oversized tip.

This is the man who goes to charity fundraisers with me, sometimes grudgingly, but then tells me to raise my paddle to help feed the horses.

This is the man who would do absolutely anything for his sons including traveling halfway around the world to attend a wedding.

He can always make me laugh.  And in a marriage that is one thing that is definitely needed.  It can get any couple through some difficult times if there is humor that is allowed to creep in.  Chris has the ability to make me laugh even if it is just by doing his llama impersonation.

He is generous, thoughtful and way more intelligent than he lets on.  He is my rock.  He is my encourager.

This is the man who loves silly ole emotional me when I am not so lovable.

Happy Birthday to my partner in life and in adventure.  Here’s to a million more (or close to it) birthdays together.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

All the Light We Cannot See

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
