Happy Birthday, Mr. Diamond!

13 Comments/ 18/ 2

Happy Birthday to my Mr. Diamond.

It’s very hard for me to believe that I have known this man for 39 years and have celebrated 38 birthdays with him.

It’s a funny thing sometimes when you are married to your best friend.  You see sides of them that no one else ever sees.

To many my husband is all business.  He has his “work voice” and that was very evident in our early marriage when he was in the Navy.  He definitely had that voice down when the captain called.

What I am privileged to see is the softer side of him.  The side that engages the waiter or waitress in conversation, learns a little bit of their story and then quietly leaves an oversized tip.

This is the man who goes to charity fundraisers with me, sometimes grudgingly, but then tells me to raise my paddle to help feed the horses.

This is the man who would do absolutely anything for his sons including traveling halfway around the world to attend a wedding.

He can always make me laugh.  And in a marriage that is one thing that is definitely needed.  It can get any couple through some difficult times if there is humor that is allowed to creep in.  Chris has the ability to make me laugh even if it is just by doing his llama impersonation.

He is generous, thoughtful and way more intelligent than he lets on.  He is my rock.  He is my encourager.

This is the man who loves silly ole emotional me when I am not so lovable.

Happy Birthday to my partner in life and in adventure.  Here’s to a million more (or close to it) birthdays together.

Happy birthday, Chris! What a generous and loving spirit you hold in many ways. As they say in my native southwestern Minnesota, “Many more birthdays!” (And, yes, Beth Ann, I intentionally typed in an exclamation point.) 🙂

I hope he has had a wonderful birthday! He sounds much like my Motor Man: tenderhearted and always ready to make others laugh. I do hope one day that the four of us can meet in person.

Happy Birthday Mr. Diamond. A sense of humor, is so important. And I just added witnessing the llama impersonation to my bucket list—a little video goes a long way! Just saying.

Beth Ann, I love this post! Happy birthday to that hubs of yours. Our stories are similar, as I’ve been married to the hubs for 37 years this year…there are darned few of us around. Your expressions of love for him make clear that you two are an amazing couple! Congratulations to you both! ~ Lynn
