I Spy With My Little Eye…

8 Comments/ 260/ 0

It’s been a long 7 days but as of about noon today all of the hardest work will be done and the 53rd Annual AAUW Brevard Branch Used Book Sale will be history. Today we return all the tables and supplies to our Book Nook, load up the 130 boxes (we started with 1060) in a truck headed south and breathe a sigh of relief. Of course there is still some work to be done to get things put away and tables set back up for our continued sorting and pricing efforts, but we are giving ourselves a pat on the back for another very successful book sale. It feels good.

Almost every day when I went out to my car at the end of the day or the end of my shift this was what I saw.

See that bunny? That bunny made an appearance close to my car every day except one and if you know, you know. My mom loved bunnies and we had a constant bunny parade that graced her house. I hid them for her to find after I left after a visit. Not real ones, of course, but bunnies in all shapes and sizes. When I saw this bunny this week it made me smile and made me think of my mom and her love of books as well. I wrote a blog post about it here. It seems only appropriate that my mom was with me in spirit this week and the bunny was a sign of that.

Those special little signs are so welcome. Years ago (not long after she passed away), a bookmark that my cousin had given me fell out of one of the cubbies of my rolltop desk….on my birthday.

It brought a tear to my eye – we were more like sisters than cousins!

Old Girls in Low Cotton
