I have a new collection. My readers know all about my teapot collection and my massive book collection . Well, it seems only right to let you in on my latest collection that I can hardly keep a secret any longer.
Bruises. You read that correctly. Bruises.
You see this week is the Annual AAUW Used Book Sale and each year that I have helped I have managed to collect bruises. Some might say I am klutzy. Some might say I am careless. Some might say I am inattentive. The truth is that all of these are the truth.
I am now sporting bruises on my foot and ankle, both arms and a massive one above my knee where I ran into something as I was racing around like a lunatic at the book sale.
But it is all good and our sale has been fabulous. Low temperatures, lots of sales and most of all —camaraderie. You see, when you aren’t busy, when you aren’t looking for that next treasure of a book, you talk. You catch up. You meet members you don’t know. You chat up customers who have very interesting stories. You duck as the birds who reside in the gym swoop and fly in and out. It’s a fun place to be.
If bruises are the end result and my latest collection I decided to embrace it because, after all, they won’t last forever.

Oh my! You share the most interesting things! Always a joy to read your posts. Congrats on a successful book sale and hope you heal fast!
Thanks! Just keeping it real!
I think a lot of it is age. I bruise really easily…don’t even know how it happened 😵💫
I e always bruised easy and tend to sport one or two at all times. My middle name is also klutz! Hope none of yours are too painful.
Bruises don’t look good and some are painful but they are part of life to most people. In your case they came from hard work for a great cause. Hope they are better soon.
Have you always bruised easily? If not you might want to pass this information on to your primary doc just to be sure.
Oh yes! I should have included that. And they were all pretty good reasons to bruise. Running into tables and hefting boxes all week was pretty physical work.
I’m thankful you have only bruises and no broken bones. Thank you for working so hard on this sale. I love our local AAUW book sale.
