It’s All About Timing

4 Comments/ 127/ 0

Sometimes it is all about timing. Many times it is all about timing. I appreciate that and this week I have seen God’s hand in the timing of things and am incredibly grateful.

We’ve had a love hate relationship with living in the woods. While we love it most of the time, it does present its issues. Trees that need to be trimmed constantly, fallen sticks and branches, leaves that need to be composted, wildlife and pest control, and threat of wildfires are just a few of the issues that we have personally encountered. It’s a never ending scene that plays out when you live in a highly wooded and desirable community like ours. While I wouldn’t change it, I know that not everyone could live in an environment like ours. Just like I would have to make a huge adjustment to live in a big city, we all figure out what works.

We’ve had our share of storms and tree issues, wildfires and yes – pest control. Last year we had to deal with a pest control situation that had grown to epic proportions. You see our cozy home had also become quite attractive to flying squirrels and raccoons. Yes, sadly, we had provided such a lovely environment for both ( we are so kind) that they had made several access points into our attic and had moved their families in. Thanks to some talented folks at Teminex, we got that situation under control and the cats are no longer looking at the ceiling like there are critters up there. Hopefully that guarantee of work will last.

Fast forward to this week when I found a lone piece of shingle on the driveway and looked up above the garage and saw a hole! Yikes. I suspected critter action again and that a mad raccoon had taken its revenge on us. Upon further investigation it appears to be more than that and an actual roof issue and not critter issue although I still am a little suspect. But the up side of all of this? We were home. We caught it right away and were not on our way to Europe and unable to address it appropriately. Thank you, God. I know that His hand was in this. While we are not looking forward to spending money on roof stuff right now, there is never a good time for that, right? But the alternative would have been disastrous and we have a plan in place.

I decided to choose to be positive about this and not dwell on the cost and the inconvenience of things. It is just how life happens at times and how home ownership goes. We are so blessed to live in a beautiful house in a beautiful community and to have a roof over our heads when so many struggle. It’s all about timing and I am grateful for God’s perfect timing in this case.

Have you ever experienced and example of God’s perfect timing? I would love to hear about it in the comments. Remember to Comment for a Cause for The Children’s Center of Transylvania County.
