Well, here it is almost a month since my last post which is kind of ridiculous but hey – I said I was going to take a break and I did. A much needed one but trust me – I wasn’t sitting around twiddling my thumbs. Chris and I came to a major life decision about two months ago and we’ve been busy making good on that decision.
We have felt the need to downsize for a long time but just lacked the energy and willpower to make the move. After talking about it and coming to the conclusion that we really need to do this while we are still healthy enough to do it and can enjoy our next phase of life together, we put our house on the market last week. It’s a huge move as you can imagine and my readers know how much we love it where we live but this year has been a lot. A new roof, continued tree maintenance, trying to just keep up with all of the ongoing house repairs and we just decided it was time to get this house in the hands of someone else who will love it as much as we do.
So the past 6 weeks have been spent in doing all those projects we have put off – cleaning out, multiple trips to donation sites, selling off some furniture and other belongings in preparation for simpler and smaller living. It’s been a lot. I won’t lie. It took me a bit to get into the mode but once I did I embraced it and went full on. We have had wonderful help from family and friends and as the house went on the MLS last week, I felt like I could breathe again.
Now everyone who has ever sold a house knows that once you put it up for sale the work does not stop. You have to be ready to have it show ready at any notice because that might be the ONE that wants to buy it. So we are trying to keep it looking great while living here and continuing to weed through belongings that need to go.
Our current plan, since everyone asks, is to most likely find a place to rent for awhile until we figure out exactly what we want to do. We would love to stay close by but that all depends on what we can find when we need to find it. We have always had a plan when we have moved and I feel like we will find the right place at the right time and there are just things that are out of my control so I am yielding to God on all this. Which is what I need to do in all areas of my life if I am honest.
So while this is a lot to deal with I feel like it is a step in faith once again. To trust that we will end up where God wants us, doing what we can to live our lives fully for Him and in service somehow. I am getting excited for our next chapter — let’s get this house sold!
I have missed my blogging friends and hope to get back to this a bit more regularly. I just wan’t in the right frame of mind to be posting much here but hopefully things are a little calmer now and I can focus on some other things. Thanks for stopping by today!
