Hi Beth, Ok, here are some of my pet peeves. Mostly driving related:
    1) Loud motorcycles accelerating for the 4 blocks between Clear Lake Bandshell Park and the Surf Ballroom 4 way stop. Seems they take it easy around the Park by the seawall, then have to let rip to the next stop. Loud, dangerous, unlawful. My city councilman says he is working on a noise ordinance.

    2) Left turners going in to Walmart at Eisenhower coming from the east on 122 in MC. They have a long green arrow, but typically there are 12-20 cars lined up to get the low low prices:-( If I am heading east to go to my office, my signal turns green to enter the intersection, but the yayhoos turning left bumper up to each other so anyone going east has to wait for the intersection to clear before proceeding. They push the yellow all the way to red and then some!

    3) Slow entries. I am travelling at 55 mph from MC to CL and from one of the side roads a driver decides to pull out in front of me. Not directly in front, but either doesn’t speed up to match traffic or pulls out when someone else is beside me and I can’t change lanes to pass the offender. Jam on the brakes, wait for and open spot to pass, THEN the slowpoke speeds up to 53 mph so I can’t pass then either. Semi trucks seem to do this regularly, they seem to think they own the road.

OK, so there you have them. Nice to get them off my chest. Maybe I’m too picky about it, but lots of rude drivers out there testing everyone’s patience

    Wayne,
I totally agree about the driving pet peeves! I think Mason City has some of the worst drivers I have ever seen. I am sorry but from all of my travels that is just how I call it. I don’t know what the deal is–are people just so distracted or are they just ignorant of polite driving etiquette. I am always VERY careful when driving in MC. I know I make errors myself but I do try to be cognizant of others and practice good car karma by being a nice driver. One can only hope it wears off on others!!!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
