Podcasters, Pyrex and Man Eyes

7 Comments/ 503/ 0

With a title like that you HAVE to read the post today, right? So….let me explain.

Our week at Lakeside is over but the memories will linger on and one of them was a fabulous meet up with my friend Jean and her sister Laura. I met Jean through her books and have come to love her wit, kindness and sense of humor. She and little sister Laura have a podcast that I have shared with my readers previously.

.

Jean and Laura made the trip to Lakeside and invited my sister Paula and myself out to lunch. After a quick tour of Laura’s beautiful Lakeside “cottage”, we headed to Cleats for a fabulous lunch. There wasn’t a minute of awkward silence with the four of us. I had never met Laura and Paula had never met either one of them but it was like we were all fast friends and hilarity ensued.

The topics of conversation had quite a range and stories of calamities were shared including a couple of Pyrex stories that my sister prefaced with “Well, there’s Pyrex and then there’s Pyrex”. But I honestly knew what she meant because of my OH (other half) who worked in glass plants including a Corning one that made those infamous Pyrex measuring cups. Apparently the “recipe ” has changed for those Pyrex items over the years. Pyrex used to be the same Borosilicate glass that laboratory equipment is made out of. It’s made out of something more durable than standard glass now but its nowhere near as durable as it used to be. If you inherit or find pyrex in a thrift store labeled with all-caps PYREX, it is the good borosilicate stuff. Or so the internet says.

And then we discussed “man eyes” which is a term that a friend of my sister has coined. It describes when a man looks in the fridge or other place for something that is right in front of him and yet can not see it and requires assistance. I don’t usually bash on my husband but he does have man eyes. He says it is because he is taller and the angle at which he looks at the refrigerator is different than mine. Yes, that is true, but…. The conversation turned to man ears which we ALL know is a real thing, right?

We had a delightful lunch and I was so glad they invited Paula and that we were able to spend a few hours of fun. It made our Lakeside week even better.

You definitely want to follow Jean and Laura’s award winning podcast – Ok Boomer. Just click on that link and you can find all the details about how to follow. You won’t regret it.

A big thank you to both of them for a great day! Thanks for the laughs and friendship. We even managed to get into a big chair for a picture. Left to right: Laura, Wind Blown Beth Ann, Paula and Jean.
