What I Am Enjoying These Days

7 Comments/ 71/ 0

A lot. That’s what I am enjoying these days.

Sometimes I feel the need to share what I am reading, listening to and watching on It’s Just Life and today is that day. I love to hear what others are enjoying in these areas as well so make sure you leave me your favorites when you leave a comment.

Reading

I just reread The Midnight Library for book club and I loved it even more the second time I read it. Anyone else love it? Honestly- it is my favorite book this year hands down. The story is all about regrets and while it opens with the main character considering suicide it really is not a dark book. At least in my opinion it isn’t. What I loved about the book was the ending. It was totally how I wanted to the book to end.

I also just finished Sticks and Scones by Diane Mott Davidson. Now this is not a deep novel by any. means but it was fun and full of great characters. Sometimes I just need a cozy mystery to read and this one fit the bill.

Watching

I am currently on season six of Grey’s Anatomy. I watched probably the first 7 seasons or so in real time and then life happened or something and I stopped watching. I decided that it was time to rewatch so I am. I am enjoying it but I must admit some of the gory scenes are getting to me at times.

Chris and I usually watch a show together in the evening and we have run through quite a few over the past 18 months. Right now we are watching Midsomer Murders. This is a British show and I absolutely love it. It has great characters and I am not very good at figuring out the murderer for some reason. Chris is better at it than I am and. has nailed it several times in the past couple of episodes.

Listening

I always have a podcast or an audio book going and it is a good way to pass the time when driving or doing housework or whatnot. Of course I am always on the lookout for new podcasts so make sure you share what you are enjoying as well.

I always tune into Jean and Laura’s podcast Ok Boomer to get a few laughs. With over 50 podcasts under their collective belts they are pros at this and they always do make me laugh out loud. I normally listen to this one as I am getting ready in the morning (don’t know what that really means)and it has caused me to poke myself in the eye more than once with my mascara brush. While they make their way through life I can identify with a lot of what they talk about . I think it is because I am a boomer. “smile”. Check them out by clicking on the link above or on any podcast channel.

Another podcast I am hooked on is the Murdaugh Murders. This one is by Mandy Matney and I have been drawn into the whole Murdaugh web the past few months. If you live in the South you have heard of the Murdaugh family and of the murders and mystery surrounding them. This is a great podcast and one that I listen to as soon as a new episode drops. It’s that good. If you like true crime and murder mysteries this might be the one for you.

There you go – my wrap up for you of what I am indulging in right now. Let me know in the comments what you are loving so I can add to my lists. Remember that each comment means a 50 cent donation to our Comments for a Cause – Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

I too loved The Midnight Library. I just read The Tattooist of Auschwitz which was very good. Always a tough topic but well written and shows the determination of the human spirit. And Midsomer Murders we have been watching for many years and always enjoy it. Sometimes the murderer is easy to figure out, other times not so easy. I have even got ideas for my books from some of the shows. It is still going strong over here and I think it is in its 19th season. They are running a new series of All Creatures Great and Small which is excellent. Watch for it as I think it will be running on PBS next year sometime in the US. It is well cast.

Thank you so much for the OK Boomer shout out! Wow! And thanks for listening to our antics!
I added The Midnight Library to my TBR. Interesting- reviewers loved it…or didn’t.
We’ve been binge watching shows too. Dexter, The Walking Dead, Shameless. And yes, even Squid Game.
    Thanks again!

I always love these posts. So fun to read about what you’re reading, listening to, etc. But I have admit….those earrings on the cover of this are just killer—and I was totally enamored!!! I don’t go too many places these days other than hospitals and church, but I’ll bet I could wear those earrings somewhere! Lol! Thanks for the fun post!

Love this. Thanks for sharing. I’ve heard a few people talk about Midnight Library now so I’m going to download it and add it to my ever growing reading list.
Ash has watched and rewatched Grey’s Anatomy a few times now. I watched it in real time but like you stopped at some point. So maybe it’s time to rewatch it as well. My fave was always ER.

Thanks for sharing your list. I currently have a stack of library books and have already dropped two after reading only a few chapters. I figure there are too many good books out there to read those that don’t appeal to me, mostly because of the writing quality. Sometimes I wonder how certain books even make it in to print. Thanks for your tip on The Midnight Library.
