Q and A Time – A Bit About Me

25 Comments/ 73/ 0

1. What were you doing 10 years ago?  10 years ago we were living in Australia.  Chris was in charge of seven sugar mills and we lived on the beach of the Coral Sea in a little place called Saunders Beach.  Who would have ever thought that this would be our life?  It was a pretty amazing time and we loved having all of the great experiences that we had.  We met so many wonderful people, saw so many wonderful things and truly enjoyed our experience down under.

2. What 5 things are on your To-Do list? 1. Work on Christmas letter and get envelopes addressed. I am actually ahead of schedule this year.. 2. Write 7 blog posts.  3. Take down fall decorations and attempt to put up a few Christmas ones.  4. Make a list and start shopping for the few Christmas gifts we actually buy. 5. Start baking Christmas cookies.

3.What are 5 snacks you enjoy?  1.Popcorn  2. Hummus and veggies  3. Peanut butter filled pretzels  4. Dark Chocolate anything  5. homemade Chex mix

4. Name some things you would do if you were a millionaire:   I would make sure that all my family had everything that they needed and pay off any school loans, etc. that needed to be taken care of.  I would up my donations to Comments for a Cause and maybe establish a scholarship fund of some sort.   And maybe….build a teapot museum of my own.   🙂

5.Name some places you have lived. The pretty complete complete list as follows:

  1. Sonora, Ohio
  2. Hannibal, Ohio
  3. North Fairfield, Ohio
  4. New Concord, Ohio
  5. Ada, Ohio
  6. Marengo, Ohio
  7. Winter Park, Florida
  8. Orlando, Florida
  9. Greenville, Ohio
  10. Monaca (Center) ,Pennsylvania
  11. Freeport, Illinois
  12. Hawthorne Woods, Illinois
  13. Davidson, North Carolina
  14. Mooresville, North Carolina
  15. Mason City, Iowa
  16. Townsville, Queensland, Australia
  17. Saunders Beach, Queensland, Australia
  18. Lima, Ohio
  19. Brevard, North Carolina

6. Name some bad habits you have.  Lack of discipline to stick with things that I need to stick with.  I also have a habit of committing to more than I can handle but I am doing better at that one.  Over eating is another bad habit but I am working on that as well.

7.Name some jobs you have had.  Newspaper delivery, babysitting, waitress, typesetter, substitute teacher, office person for family business,  church secretary, director of small groups and servant ministries, mom, wife, blogger, writer

Aren’t you excited to learn all these random facts about me?  I think it is always fun to learn new things about people so let me know some random fact about yourself.  Remember each comment means a 50 cent donation to our current Comments for a Cause.

When I get home Christmas cards and letters are top priority. I am already decorated and with a big snow coming it is the perfect time!

Wow! We lived in Davidson in a condo until we could move into our house in Mooresville. Where does your brother work? You have me all intrigued now!

I certainly hope there is not a move in the near future. We are trying to keep it that way. Chris said when we moved here his next move would be in an urn. 🙂 I am not sure that that will be the case but we love where we live and as long as he can continue to work out of the home and travel when needed we will make it work.

You’ve lived in many places which is why you have amassed many friends and experiences. My list is not quite as long as we didn’t move around when I was growing up. (The first 2)
    1.Hilda, Alberta
    2 Irvine, Alberta
    3. Medicine Hat, Alberta
    4. Calgary, Alberta
    5. Delta, BC
    6. Richmond, BC
    7. Tsawwassen, BC
    8. Orihuela Costa, Spain

Ten years ago I was working for the Boys and Girls Club, assisting youth at risk to find meaningful work. I loved that job and the BGC was a great organization to work for. I was also teaching English as a Second Language to Korean students evenings and weekends and working on my first two Amanda books. It was a busy but fulfilling time.

I love finding out that about you. I think we all have such great stories that we just need to share them. You are brilliantly sharing yours in Amanda books. 🙂

And just when I thought I knew you, I’ve learned more. Let’s see, random fact: I was the first girl in my high school to join the Future Farmers of America. Eventually my niece Hillary (who attended the same high school) went on to become the Minnesota State FFA president. And it all started with me, her aunt, busting through the door.

Love the random fact. Our family also had a similar claim to fame however it was a bit different. My sister won the Betty Crocker award in high school. I think it basically was just taking a test and doing well. Two years later my brother won it. 🙂 There was quite a conversation about that but hey—he won it fair and square.

My decorating is all done–I actually got it done before I left for my week in Ohio. No tree this year but a lot of other things including some of my nativity collection.

I really enjoyed this post 😉 I had a picture memory of my kids from 10 years ago pop up on my FB account this morning and was remembering. Then I was cleaning out my email and saw yours I had missed this week. So fortuitous 😉 My to-do list this weekend includes finishing Christmas cards and my annual Christmas calendar for my parents and husband. Lets hope I don’t get too distracted from finishing. I am a little behind already. I don’t really believe in coincidences so I read your post when it would make the most impact for me. Thank you! Merry Christmas!!

I love that you read my post right when you needed to! I love it when things like that happen. We are currently under a winter storm—the snow is falling, I have chili in the crock pot, am trying to get organized after being gone to Ohio to see my mom and just chilling at the moment. There is so much still to do but I am resting right now. Sometimes I just need that. Merry Christmas, Kim!

Fun post and fun facts to learn about you! Here’s my random fact: 10 years ago I was checking up on and spending lots of time with my aging father, had two kids in college and one living way down south furthering her career, had a husband who traveled way too much for business, and was holding down a part-time job all of which kept me incredibly busy. My life has truly calmed down a lot since then. 🙂

It’s a meme! Things on my to-do list for the Holiday Hiatus:

    1. Chop up and stack all the extra wood the Big Wet Snow left in my yard. Road, too, if we get enough dry weather.

    2. Do something with the notes for a high school novel I took while actually in high school (topic of a blog post).

    3. Write at least two chapters of a murder mystery.

    4. Pay the property taxes with the profits from two months’ physical storekeeping.

    5. Weather permitting, pick a day for a long walk and visit Grandma Bonnie Peters and Adayahi. (The first eight miles between their homes and mine are in the same direction, so theoretically both can be visited on the same day.)
