When It’s All Been Said and Done

3 Comments/ 5072/ 0

One of my all time favorite Christian songs is entitled “When It’s All Been Said and Done” by Robin Mark.  The lyrics are simple but ring true with me every single time I hear them or read them.

When it’s all been said and done
There is just one thing that matters
Did I do my best to live for truth?
Did I live my life for you?

When it’s all been said and done
All my treasures will mean nothing
Only what I have done
For love’s rewards
Will stand the test of time

Lord, your mercy is so great
That you look beyond our weakness
That you found purest gold in miry clay
Turning sinners into saints

I will always sing your praise
Here on earth and in heaven after
For you’ve joined me at my true home
When it’s all been said and done
You’re my life when life is gone.

This week has been a week of sadness and tragedy in Orlando and while so much has been written and shown on media surrounding those who lost their lives, the families, the wounded, the first responders and our country in general I still believe in the depths of my heart of hearts that God is present in it all.

It is very difficult to understand why bad things happen, isn’t it?   But I do know that God is sovereign and is present for us in our hour of need. I am forever reminded of this verse:

Romans 8:28 “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

When unexplainable things happen in my world I cling to the faith that I have been raised in.  I do not understand and simply cannot comprehend the hate that I see being spewed around in a variety of ways after an event as tragic as the shootings in Orlando.  The voice in my head simply keeps saying “Can’t we all just get along?  Can’t we all just love one another?”   I find myself shying away from watching the news because it is just too hard to watch anymore.

And finally when I come back around to being able to think about the sadness of the event I put the focus back on me and ask myself “Did I do my best to live for truth?  Did I live my life for you?”  My response to events in the world HAVE to be positive and Christ like.  That is what is needed at a time like this.  Am I living and loving as God designed me?

Because when it’s all been said and done that is how I want to be remembered.  I know that one person can make a difference.  What about you?

I know you have done that very successfully. Your children are blessed to have you. 🙂

You quoted my favorite bible verse, a source of strength for me often.

A truly beautiful post, dear friend.
