Seasons

1 Comment/ 11/ 0

There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

2     a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3     a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4     a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5     a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6     a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7     a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8     a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 NIV

I have always loved the wisdom in these verses in Ecclesiastes in the Old Testament. It puts in my mind that there really is a time for just about everything. Whether it is plant or pull up, weep or laugh, mourn or dance, there are definitely times for each of these. I think if King Solomon was indeed the author of these words he was very wise. I am sure we can all identify with some of the scenarios in this scripture and understand the thoughts behind them.

I have been less and less present here on the blog and I had decided earlier this year that I was putting too much pressure on myself to write something every day. Silly, I know, but I felt like I had to fill up a post every weekday. But I also always said that it did not bring me joy I should not continue. Putting myself on such a rigid schedule seems silly. After all, it’s for fun, right?

Today I read a post by Sean Dietrich (aka Sean of the South) that stated pretty much what I have been feeling. I have spent too much time trying to find words to share on this blog and maybe I just need to not do that as much. Perhaps it is better to just write a post occasionally instead of putting pressure on myself. I mean, if it is good enough for Sean Dietrich, I think it is good enough for me.

This is not goodbye but I felt like I needed to tell my faithful readers what I am thinking and why my posts may be erratic from now on. I’m going to concentrate on doing what I need to do to bring joy to my life, to appreciate friends and family more and work hard on making myself a better person one day at a time. I’ve kept this blog since 2008 and I am not ready to let it go yet, but perhaps, I am entering a new season. I’ll see you back here when I see you! Until then – have a wonderful week. You matter to me.

Old Girls in Low Cotton
