“Talk Less. Smile More.”

If you know, you know.

If you don’t know, this is famous line by Aaron Burr in Hamilton. It is one of those lines that sticks with you and I think I may just adopt it as my motto. It’s pretty good, right?

Hamilton, if you are unaware, is a book and musical written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Chris and I hadn’t jumped on the Hamilton bandwagon early on and now I am wondering why, It is wonderful.

Our family gifted us wonderful tickets to the Broadway play for our 40th anniversary and we finally were able to use them on our trip to NYC. We had fabulous seats and the performance was really wonderful. Now I understand what all the hype was about.

The show was playing at the Richard Rodgers Theatre which was a spectacular venue. So beautiful.

Can’t you just envision the old guys from the Muppets in these boxes?

The stage was so close – we could see every single expression clearly.

The soundtrack is playing non-stop in my mind. Every. Single. Day.

The Playbill.

If you have never been to a Broadway show or to an off Broadway show it is really something to experience. I grew up with a love of Broadway thanks to my parents. I wasn’t sure I would love Hamilton but I did and it brought back memories of my dad playing 1776 on the stereo. I knew all of the lyrics and would sing along. It came out in 1969 and I am pretty sure they saw it pretty soon after it came out on Broadway. I think I inherited my love of musicals from my parents because NYC was their get away spot and they always took in plays and musicals when they visited. I love that I have those memories of them.

Are you a Broadway fan? What have you seen? I would love to hear all about it so leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause for Copeland Oaks Library.

Your had a delightful getaway in NYC! How sweet of your kids- I’m sure they were as excited as you were. Broadway is amazing- we have seen some shows in NYC and also when the traveling show comes to our area. (Haven’t seen Hamilton though!) We have seen the Rockette’s Christmas Spectacular several times! That is so neat that your folks went to NYC.

That is a perfect quote! I must remind myself of that. I too love musical theatre and have been to two NYC Broadway plays, Brighton Beach Memories with Joan Rivers, and A Chorus Line. Both excellent. My favourite musical of all time was a production of Blood Brothers that I saw in London.

I have never been to a Broadway play. Local plays are the best I have every seem. They look and sound like so much fun. What a wonderful gift from your children.
