Comments for a Cause Keeps on Booking

9 Comments/ 234/ 0

May! May! May! It’s here. I love May. It signals flowers and plants and freshness to me and of course here on It’s Just Life the first of the month means it is time for Comments for a Cause.

This past month we shared a little bit about a local nonprofit, El Centro, that is right here in Brevard, NC. I had the privilege of hearing a program by executive director Sellers Shook at a recent AAUW meeting and was so impressed with what they do that I had to highlight them in April. If you want to read a bit about their mission and outreach in our community please click here to read more about it.

Chris and I are happy to share that we will be donating $!00 to El Centro as a result of your comments this month of the blog. I can not tell you how much I appreciate each and every one of you for taking the time to stop by and read and comment so often. It really warms my heart.

One of the things about May is the celebration of Mother’s Day. For many of us it is one of those bittersweet holidays because we no longer have our own mothers with us to celebrate. I was just thinking about my mom and how much I miss her and it made me think of some of the things that she loved the most. One of those things was volunteering at the library at Copeland Oaks where she lived. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, right?

I have so many memories of going to visit her and stopping by the library to see what she was doing or what was new. She was often vexed by doing the dvd check out and it always made me giggle when she would tell me how stressful that was. Making sure the dvd matched the box and getting it all straight was a huge deal for her. I am sure she did just fine but for some reason that was the one thing that she got a bit nervous about.

This month I am going to honor my mom and her love of books and her love of volunteering at the Copeland Oaks Library. For each and every comment made on any post during the month, we will make a 50 cent donation to the library at Copeland Oaks in her memory. I know it will be a blessing to many people so please come back and comment often. And thanks to my mom for instilling the love of reading in my life.

Awwww. May is my favorite month because everything outside is pretty and new here .

It’s been enough years now that I can get through mother’s day without crying, mostly, and I just avoid the card aisle at the grocery store. All those pink cards can get to me a little, even now.

I hope YOU have a wonderful mother’s day!

What an appropriate selection for May. I love that you will be honoring your mom in this way. I know how much you miss her. She would appreciate that you are doing this in her memory.
