The Longest #FarewellTour2015 Ever

16 Comments/ 3241/ 1

It’s been a great summer.  My friend, Jeni from Jeni Eats and I both knew we were going to be moving this summer and somewhere along the way we coined the #FarewellTour2015 hashtag.  If truth be known I think it might have been the Computer Guy who actually said it first and it kind of stuck.  So that is what we did.

We did a Farewell Tour to match no other.  Jeni has already moved and is getting settled in her new place in St. Louis and I was left in Mason City for another month after she left so my tour continued a bit longer.  I suspect by the time I leave people are going to be happy to see no more #FarewellTour2015 posts.

But indulge me and let me share just  a few of the things that we did over the past couple of months.

We spent a little time visiting our friend Amy Hild’s gravesite and enjoyed some ice cream at The Viking Drive Inn where she used to work.  It was a fun time watching the kids running around and enjoying their ice cream.  Nothing makes me smile more than seeing little ones totally enjoy an ice cream cone.

Blogger friend Alicia from Fit and Farm gave Jeni and I the most amazing picture frame complete with multiple pictures of the North Iowa Bloggers which will always have a special place in my home. picture

I gave a lot of stuff away.  A lot.  It was great fun to see some of our belongings that we no longer needed going to some of my favorite people in the whole wide world.

Mary got all of my houseplants.

Bryan of Psuche Running got a couple of rocking chairs.

A lot of other stuff just simply got hauled away in a dumpster but it was time to do that.  It was long overdue.dumpster

I said goodbye to my good friends at KCMR.  Being a part of the KCMR family for the last year has been such a wonderful thing for me.  I was able to spend a bit of time almost every Tuesday morning with Cynthia talking about what was going on on my blog and we truly became great friends. Bill Schickel was the man who brought us together and I will always be grateful to him for reaching out to me and suggesting we do this.kcmr CollageI ate at Pasta Bella one last time with some of my blogging buddies again.  Yum. Great food and always great service.

I am feeling so spoiled.KushCollageKaty of Learning As I Go gave me this amazing photo cube with a lot of great photos of some of our blogging fun.photocube

Several of us spent a night in Clear Lake taking in dinner at The Landing and going on a cruise on The Lady of the Lake. This has always been on my list of things to do and I just had not gotten around to doing it yet.  It was a perfect night with a great group of ladies.

las palmas 2The time is coming when there will be no more #FarewellTour2015 pictures and posts but it has been a lot of fun to do all of the things that I have been able to cram in between the organizing and preparing for the move.  So as I close this post I share a picture of Chris and I and one of our “finds” while we were cleaning out.  Looks like we are going “home”.

That's a horseshoe I am holding--it just does not all fit into the picture. Lucky me!

And a late entry – a visit to Natural Plus Nursery to see Mary and Dave and Lena and Maggie, of course!  Puppy kisses are the best.Farewell Tour Lena Maggie

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
